I have this monitor, and it's pretty much plug-n-play, I'm quite sure you can 120hz at any res. Although I must admit I have no idea how the resolution scaling works(it changed when I moved from XP to Win7, so I assume it's controlled by OS), but my monitor is always @ native 120hz even when I run some older game at lower res.
Also I use an AMD card and there's a GPU scaling option in Catalyst, I don't use that though.

Anyway I wouldn't worry about it. And yes a lot of players still use 4:3 with black borders on widescreen np.
But you should be buying a newer 120/144 model asus or benq, unless you're getting this for rather cheap. :)

I always played 4:3 (1280x960) with this monitor @ 120 hz, it's no problem. Also works with different scaling settings.

I play QL on 800*600 resolution and 120Hz and got GTX 570 .No problems.You can play on all resolution with 120Hz.My advice is go with Nvidia.

Even if resolution you want is not supported by default it should be possible to add custom resolution with desired refresh rate e.g. in NVIDIA Control Panel http://www.quakelive.com/forum/showthread.php...post157653

Did anyone ever have a problem with the 2233RZ not working with 120Hz?
Because I'm having that problem right now. When I try to switch to 120Hz I get a black screen.
Any ideas what might cause that?
