Most german players from faces of meth and other clans use this 'trick' to make you miss shots.. Don't know what to think of that (ab)use.

it's a taunt. a taunt by nature is to provoke people. if you use it to provoke people to miss shots, then it is serving its intended purpose, no different than pump faking in basketball.

we tested so many different settings like maxpackets/maxfps/timenudge etc. and they all have an effect on you beeing able to hit or not. so it does have a bigger negative impact than taunt which just leads you to rageout which is a personal thing. i don't even notice it anymore.

Timenudge is clientside. Your timenudge does affect your ability to hit, but only yours and no one else's.

You can disable taunts to prevent missing so its not lame and low. Deal with it.

It's set to 0 on my config aswell. It doesn't disable the animations though, just the sound of it it seems.

And the germans having the taunt on their movement keys to use it as advantage are pretty lame in my opinion.

we dont have it on movement keys. there's just taunt 0 & 1 that's it. on or off nothing on movement keys

It's +button6 I believe. Rapid taunt animation minus the sound. Just call it in the console without binding it for perma action.

I admit, I love spamming the thing. But I don't do it carelessly. I usually use it as a way to try to communicate to teammates when I don't have a bind or don't have time to talk, such as trying to tell a teammate to go ahead and grab a nearby item.

Even if it could be removed, I think it's a fun mechanic to have and it's usefulness would become zero if everyone started disabling it.

taunt is great for de-stress (like pummel or use item)
it can make aim better, for example i hit better in near-field rocket launcher fights when i always press key for taunt when im firering a rocket (in my case mouse 1 and alt at the same time)

As someone said it before in the thread it's a complicated script in the cfg. Personally I think it is just cluttering up your cfg and useless. Instead there is a small program called qlhook developed by contributing members of the community like ZeroQL. Think of it like qlprism for the new standalone quake client. It allows you to bind the taunt thing easier and has some other functionality to streamline your quake experience, some say it kinda aims for you.

Frankly I am shocked how few use it. So when you get it be a nice contributing community member and have a chat bind that advertises the use of it and states that you have it to spread the good word.

This is hilarious IMO.

Its a bug used by players like QUBENZIS, here is how ti works :

enter the command at star of the game, it will autotaunt continuously until the server change map.

Command name was /+button 16 or so. It will spam the animation without making any sounds.

Don't expect id to fix that, they never fixed anything the community asked for.

We had a TDM match vs *69 and daler had constant taunt going on. I did not know about cg_allowTaunt then. I'm still pissed about this game.
