Yeah, it's a free week basically, but only on pro (standard) servers.

Made running a CTF server last a lot longer with all maps available in standard setting :)

something like this could give players incentive to create and manage their own experiences, which would put less responsibility on quake live to manage quality of social interactions.

maybe the 'meaning' behind the pro subscription could be that players can have access to pro maps and features, such as bright skins, competition maps, etc. this way players with pro accounts could start standard servers that others could play on and be seen as 'contributors' to community building by hosting servers that make these maps available to standard players. it could really be like a service based evolution of the classical quake server hosting.

this way, standard players can participate in a standard map pool, so that there is no confusion about what's available to play on a month by month basis, and some consistency can be created for the community of standard players. if they want to play what the 'pro' players play, they can pay for premium. if they want recognition for supporting the growth of quake, they can subscribe to pro.

at this point, quake live could provide a sort of 'happy hour' each day, where a random pro map is available for standard players.
