Well, i talked about this kinda thing a couple of times in random posts, so im not gonna repeat everything again in long form.

We individually perceive the world very differently. some are more visual, others more sound oriented and so on.. you all know what im talking about.
Seeing as how quake is the most configurable game out there i think it also needs an option for different representations of time.
some may find it easier to time with numbers, but many i believe will find timing with an analog clock much easier.

I got a reply from syncerror on one of my post talking about this and his response was: "but that would eliminate doing math for timing items"
But why would this matter if we know how rapha handled this problem by learning a whole new language for red and mega.(e.g. 5=30, 6=31 and so on)

So with this in mind in a way you could say that timing with math is the wrong way of doing it.
For the best player in the world, timing is only time management and awareness, and no math what so ever.

Now lets get to my timer itself.
I have 3 pointers, the black one is for reading the current time and then a red one and a blue one 25s and 35s away from the black one.
This way i get an instant impression on when an item will spawn next time by just looking directly at the blue or red pointer when an item is picked up. when an item is close to respawning im paying attention to the black pointer when it will reach the position i remembered the blue or red pointer was on pickup.
Not really something that needed explaining....

An analog version of the ingame clock would only have the black pointer if it were to be an alternative, but just like the pickup time cvar was added to help with timing, the blue and red hands could be there as well.
Seeing as how scripted item timers are a common thing in team games or having whole tables displayed on your hud a la 5=30, 6=31.. i dont think this would be such a controversial thing.

i played a couple of games with this and its unbelievable how fast you can pick this up, even with only one hand on the clock indicating only current time.
