I didn't like the music and I think the run is not any smooth since it includes a pause and a failure and misses the plasmaclimb tricks, but I still appreciate DEZ's strive for learning both to play and to make movies.

Dude the music is great. It's a little weird and unsettled and also understated and almost mellow. The run is exactly like this too: it's got some weird jumps, some real subtle creativity, with a bit of playfulness. The music and the run mirror each other perfectly.

To be more precise, the music itself is quite nice, I agree. It just doesn't fit a tricking movie as for me. The action on the screen does not entirely fit a tricking movie too. That's why I'm not impressed. The same video would be great to see on a live stream, I suppose, but not like this.

how well do these defrag players aim? I mean i cant do any of that shit in the vid but I aim like a boss. But this guy has sick mouse control, shouldn't he be aiming like toxjq?

for defrag runs i think it's sort of pattern, have loads of training for a fixed group of movements to produce something like muscle memory. from my experience in dfwc, on 1st day for a map i can think of a route but have lots of trouble pulling it out, but after a week of practice i can pull out complete runs easily thus this is the time for final time attack.

but for actual aiming you have to face brand new conditions all the time, there's no way to produce a prepared perfect 'aiming trick' in actual fights. you have to react to current situations and figure out the best way to move to hit more and get less hits yourself. there are patterns for such movements but they never promise your muscle 80% lg accuracy or the opponent <20%, unlike defrag. (however there are team 'aiming' tricks in defrag that the one gets hit move in fixed pattern so that the one hits can retry once and once again until all shots are hit. in this case it's still fixed pattern)

so imo aiming and defrag running is completely different, aiming is an ability to react to unknown situations, while defrag running is like crushing a stable target. both needs much training to get well, though.

DEZ is not a defrag player in any way.
And his aim in CPMA is not bad, since he plays duels a lot.
