Black metal the most, then death, but not all death and not all black. There are a lot of different genres in the "metal" scene.

And I like playing drums, I give drums lessons, that's how I earn money :p. I also play jazz and latin stuff from time to time for fun with friends, and I listen to various stuff in general.

I rarely listen to black metal, but you guys have nice melodies and catchy riffs. Nice and accurate drumming there Infuscomus, i like your style. :) Only downside were vocals because they sound too generic, but then again an unique style in vocal performance is very hard or even impossible to achieve.

what does your band sing about, musical themes etc.? (forgive me I'm being a whore when it comes to being selective of the lyrics)

Mainly about solitude, melancoly, a bit of fantasy (with Wyrms, fortresses, forests), this kind of stuff.

We scarcely speak about religion although Fili Dei is about it, and we have no NSBM roots (if that's what you are talking about with being selective). We do have a patriotic song though (France Decadence), talking about being sad your country changes while you want it to stay like it is, like it was even, refusing globalisation, etc.

Nothing too political or religious, these things have been done thousands of times already and are kind of lame actually. So, solitude, melancoly.

Nice, I'm usually very selective with what black metal i listen to, this was however not bad at all! Not the best I've heard but definitely not one of the worst :P.

Yeah, I'd say it's definitely better than most. I have a few criticisms but it's hard to fully judge without hearing the whole album.

I'b be happy to hear about these criticism, even if incomplete / uncertain :p

I mostly prefer atmospheric black metal, so much of my opinion is biased towards that style. What first stood out to me was the guitar sound was a little too clean, although it does suit the songwriting for it. The drums seemed a bit too loud and piercing at times, especially the blast beats in the first part of Filii Dei. Listening to the album, I was thinking I'd like to hear what your music would sound like with more distortion on the guitars and a muted sound to the snare and bass drums a bit. After listening to what you have up from your other album on your bandcamp page, that is closer to what I was imagining, so I think my biggest issue is the mix/mastering. I have a good example of a band with a similar sound that rerecorded some tracks from a demo for an album that seemed a bit over produced, but I can't find the demo streaming anywhere. That's not to say loud/compressed albums can't be great either. I saw you listed ulver and I know of a few others that can be seen as excellent examples of this, but the mastering work on this seems to strike me as trying to sound modern.

The songwriting actually seems pretty good and stays interesting with some really great parts, and I see there's an interlude in the track list and perhaps some of the other songs slow it down a bit, so I doubt it's a tiring album, except for the way it is mastered. Most of this is probably just me nitpicking due to my preferences though.

You guys should put up the whole album for streaming on bandcamp and offer pay for download and a little extra for shipping. That's what most bands do these days. There's a pretty big barrier for people buying your album by having it shipped to them after listening to two songs right now. Despite my criticisms, it's still good and I'd consider getting it if I could preview the rest of the album on bandcamp first. Like you said, people can pirate it, but convenience is a huge factor for someone looking to actually buy your music.

I'll answer both anyway. My favorites drummers, those who influenced me the most are Nicholas Barker (actually, the two albums he made with Dimmu Borgir : Puritanical Euphoric Mysanthropia and Death Cult Armaggeddon), Dirk Verbeuren (I didn't listen to anything he did with Soilwork though, I fell inlove with him due to Goremaggedon by Aborted, and what he did with Scarve), and Romain Goulon. Joey Jordison from Slikpnot also influenced me, since I was really fond of their stuff when in secondary school (our french collčge). There are tons of drummers I like, so it's difficult to tell exactly... I'm amazed by Mario Duplantier too (Gojira).

About metal music... I had a very standard path, starting with neo metal stuff like Soulfly, Slipknot, Korn, SOAD (which I didn't really like at first because of the vocals), then I bought magazine, I discovered more "extreme" stuff, death, brutal death, symphonic black metal, true BM, etc. I know a lot of bands even if I stopped seeking after new discoveries many years ago. I discover a new band from time to time, that's enough.

Hard question, really. I could try to summarize what band I listen regularly, that may help (considering I also listen to electronic music, classical and other shit) :

BM : Endstille, Drudkh / Hate Forest / Blood of Kingu (Ukrainian scene), Dark Funeral, Dissection (their last album is melodic deathmetal though but I like it also), Dimmu Borgir (Death Cult Armaggedon is the last album I can stand though, what they did after I can't), Peste Noire, Gorgoroth, 1349, Watain, Taake, Cradle of Filth (not after Midian album though), Nachtmystium, Judas Iscariot, Blodsrit, Fhoi Myore, Ulver, Windir... cult stuff like Darkthrone, Mayhem of course but not that much. I'm forgotting lots, doesn't matter :p.

Death (Brutal, Melodic, blabla) : Aborted, Necrophagist, Vital Remains, Behemoth, Decapitated, Belphegor, Children Of Bodom (not after Follow the Reaper album though), Kalmah, Kronos / Benighted / Gorod (french scene, awesome bands really, check them out), Gojira, The Black Dahlia Murder, Morbid Angel, Bolt Thrower, Ultra Vomit / Gronibard (french fun grindcore stuff, although Ultra Vomit did parody many genres now), Jungle Rot, In Flames (not after Soundtrack to your escape), Dark Tranquillity (not after Damage Done), Hypocrisy, Dew-Scented, Meshuggah (some stuff only)... forgotting much I guess too...

Some classic stuff too : Pantera (I like it a lot), Metallica (not too much though), Slayer, Machine Head (been a long time since I listen to them outside of seeing them live actually), Marilyn Manson (I know... I don't listen to anything after Golden Age of Grotesque anyway), Rammstein...

What I listen these days : Peste Noire and Drudkh mostly, the rest isn't metal.

I've skipped away from metal a little for a few years but I used to listen to that only for a rather long period between 17 and 22. I still enjoy metal but I miss going to live concerts and all. I guess you're a fan of Hell Fest ? Never been there but I've been 5 or 6 years in a row to graspop in Belgium. Now it's been like 3 years I haven't gone there (was tempted several times but growing up it doesn't feel the same anymore imo). Edit: and it's not implying growing up = metal is for kids, I mean most of my friends also deviated from that path or have no longer the young legs feeling to go for such "adventures". Pretty sure you get what I mean though !

I've been to Hellfest 3 times and it's absolutely fantastic, both for gigs and party.

My attitude towards metal and bands I listen have also changed, I guess everyone has this kind of evolution :).
