Looking at the lineups for the Prague lan, it will mainly consist of Eurocup- and higher ranked Opencup clans. I think that doz3r and cooke will be reasonable if certain teams were to have problems with the current deadlines.

most of Prague teams are mixes who gathered just for LAN, it gonna take a few days to form EC teams after the LAN, but noone is gonna gather EC teams before the LAN

Let me tell you a story. Once upon a time I lived in an apartment building where I had a cable connection. Cable connections here are most of the time terrible and I could not play on it at all. But instead of bitching and moaning about it on the internet I was looking for ways to solve my problem.

The solution was simple. A friend in the building shared with me his connection. But since we're not spoiled like you we did not have 100/100. Instead I set it up so only packets destined for quake would travel over the wifi-connection.

Only downside was that whenever someone between me and the wireless router used a microwave I would lag out ;-) Did I cry about it on a internet forum or abuse children as a result (nightops lol)? No I laughed about it, because it was hilarious.

Most people given the option would always opt for a better connection (as it was in your case..) obviously. Playing quake with PL and shit is a huge handicap. But people seem to think it gives an advantage. You should know better.

It may sound disadvantageous at first but it has its benefits. Same goes for aimbots. Something that shoots for you is good but the disadvantage is that you might get caught and banned for your actions.

We're talking about clan matches where teams search for servers where average ping is equal (or at least close to that). Of course you as the player of that team can opt not to play that particular match, but in most cases there isn't anyone else available to jump in. So yeah, you're pretty much forced to play on some server where routing sucks.

Routing issues can be dealt with by proxying. And if you're oblivious to technology there's the option of stepping down.

Latvia is currently #5 in the world in average max bandwidth per connection. Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea are winning those rankings for years. But you were close enough - it's Lithuania's neighbor and top 5 in the world is still nice.

The problem is that bandwidth has virtually no effect on ping in QL.

And there's no ranking of countries with best international connections, only "last mile" statistics which are meaningless.

I hope that this is not the only action you have taken to make your thoughts about this map pool public. The most effective way is to constructively tell the supervisor what your opinions are regarding this map pool and how it can be improved.

You cannot expect every supervisor to read Esreality and make changes based on comments, nothing gets done this way.

I always thought ctf com had the most retarded guys but reading this thread I gotta say tdm players can easily take up the challenge. Maybe get real and realize that not everyone has the luxury of a decent connection. Especially when the whole net in europe is just fucked up atm.

I'm not into sci-fi but from my own experience and others I can take that assumption. Heck, even at my mom's place I had 60ms to German servers and three years ago I pinged 17ms ;). Even some swe guys have troubles atm if I am not completely wrong.
As it is most providers are cheap fucks who don't give a shit about gamers and as long as the connection is usable they don't bother much and route you over Bagdad if they feel like to save some money. Trust me, I'd like to have swe internet and so do others.

You just don't get it that providers sell more capacity than they technically have which then results in laggy connections. They don't give a shit whether you ping your usual 30ms or 60. And yeah in some areas there are no alternatives other than taking the crap. Better than nothing if you ask me.

Sadly enough, I do partly agree with your post. Many people tend to exhibit confirmation bias and are not aware of this. Rather than giving others the benefit of the doubts, they are assuming the worst at almost every instance.

Regarding the warping problem. Yes there might be some doing it on purpose, but I am also sure that there are those who feel really bad about their lag/warp but simply cannot do anything about it. Should we take away their rights to play this game? In my opinion, no. There is simply no nuanced take on this matter, at this moment at least.

We(the CB crew) are trying to do the best we can to alleviate this issue by testing different server before a game, should ping be an issue. But there is simply no other measures we can apply. Sadly enough, sometimes it will be unfair to a particular team.

My proposal to an irregular ping issue(players who don't warp during most of their games) is that if both teams agree to reschedule the game(within the same matchweek), then that is something the supervisor/referee should consider too. Of course, if there is a replacement for the warping/lagging player then that player should play instead. Outside of these, we can only hope that ISPs improve their routing/bandwidth or whatever is needed to achieve better ping.

The problem I have with the warping, was when team aCtion was allowed to bench a non-warping player only to use a warping player and therefore purposely benefit from it.

No they didn't cause dashs problem intentionally, but they could've used their bench player gooda, but didn't. Hence, purposely.

Problem is that there's no way to measure warp. Its only subjective from seeing them moving ingame atm. Should have something built into QL that measures warp - interrupted packets or ping fluctuation? Whatever it is that causes it. And a value over 5, or whatever it may be, will be kicked from the server :D

I didn't pick the maps. I prefer cpm4, dm6 and cpma maps btw ;) and I'd replace most of the maps in the pool, leaving Purgatory and Limbus only. removing Dreadful Place (102 home map).

It probably isn't just a couple :) But I agree that it should not fully explain why there are so few signups. Perhaps with the inactivity of QL in general. On the other hand, there are still 8 days before the signups close, hopefully that we will have more in the coming days.
