Im pretty sure bhop in qw was a accident and thats one of the best things to have happened to gaming, strafe if i recall correctly was an error in the coding or something along those lines (out of my field here) that put forward and side speeds together so yeah that would mean all quakes and any game some form of interesting movement is "bugged and brainless" apparently

now srsly: movement in quake series is based on a bug, thats a fact. afaik carmac was mad as hell because of it.

but making this bug one of the biggest aspects of gameplay, like cpm did, was retarded. while in qw it was just accident, cpm makers made it on purpose. combined with rest of cpmish bullcrap, result was easy to predict: brainless gameplay, based on bug and mechanical efficiency.

Having at least 'decent' movement is as much a requirement in vq3/vql as it is in cpm/qw, the only difference is with the full range of aircontrol you can exploit having excellent movement far more in CPM and QW - which is something you SHOULD be rewarded for, not punished. Bug or no, movement is fundamental to the Quake games being what they are.

It is.The movement is really addictive if you manage to learn it. I remember the first time i did the stairjump to RA in aero. Once u get to know it better and do it mid game, or when the nmy is coming from upper rocket and you just snatch it away in front of his eyes it feels just amazing. The mouse movement is also very awesome to watch for a spectator, since the mouse is moving alot in stylish ways. Makes it look flashy and cool, which it is.

for me it was like this:
I know VQL strafing + angles, so the only explanation that was needed (from noctis or similar I guess?:

Circle jump + strafe normal for the first 2-3 jumps, then let go of the +forward

with race it has become even "easier" (or straight forward) because with the RJ boost I can strafe pql/cpm style right away

and yes, it really has an aesthetic plus as well, even in-game you really feel the acceleration just from mousemovement, but the fights look standoff-like childish in some ways sometimes

Hehe. Just install defrag and ull experience cpm movement. Dont compare it to PQL.

U can strafe normal for as long as you need, while releasing +fwd when u need to turn, or u can just hold +fwd while turning, but that isnt gaining u speed, and it makes a bit of a bend

i remember watching a pql match from latrommi and being amazed.
"this guy's a god!" then i saw him playing cpm and he looked like a scrub, lol. don't compare the two game modes, they're totally different.
true cpm is only done in the latest cpma mods, you're not going to find it in another mod or game.

Dont you think it's because I didnt know the maps and couldnt make a comfortable cfg (for example cl_mouseacceloffset is absent, also some other visualization of what is happening around you is very different and some other stuff)? =)) Most likely you even didnt think of how hard it's to keep fit in a few absolutely different modes... =)

p.s. all i wanted to say is that cmp movement and pql movement is really similar (I really do not want to go into details, that many of the common things in cpm incorrectly configured or absent in pql). We can say that it is from the same "package". But for a man who's learned to do the right cpm movements in pql mode will be difficult to reproduce it so alike and goodly in cpm mode. At the same time а cpm player will have no difficulty to make a nice run through the dm6 in pql mode.

music choice blasts me away, old rock and 68 music. there are scenes when this gives a kind of freedom. im not sure it fits every scene, but to use it gives a big character boost to the movie.

strange "lag freeze" effect at 0:20 seconds. i dont think it works.
missed ztn jump and devo music = rofl.
to see scenes a few times from another perspective is great.

cpma ctf with bfg, very strange thing to watch. i guess it adds more humor and playfun to the video.

i like that its at least a mix of games and styles (cpma, ql). normally cpma behaves like "a holy church".

The flag mode with BFG is CTFS, not CTF. The BFG does no splash damage at all in CPM (It used to in the old PMC gameplay).
On the European pickup servers, there is no hitscan weapon in CTFS.

The egyptian map you see in the fragmovie is cpm25 (Ptolemy's Wrath).
The map called Toxicity in Quake Live is pukka3tourney2 (Evolution).

I don't know of any map matching your description of an egyptian-themed map though.

I think I recognise a few frags from the contenders 2 and kleftogiannis, but that's possibly a plus as I got reminded of them! The fact I just watched loved every second of a 20 minute movie through when I often get bored by 5 minute movies speaks for itself. Easy 10/10, fantastic movie.
