Their sampler and demos sounded absolutely god-tier, but when i heard all those songs in release, with their squeeky vocals added, it's like "oh, they're just a bunch of kids."

Kids they are not. I think they only go up from here. If you don't dig their previews then by all means, dismiss them.

For me their latest song was pretty awesome, but only at the end. Probably the best metal I've heard all year.

I like Tesseract. They're like a mid-tier band for me. I even enjoy their new stuff. Djent, however, is a boring 'newly created' sub-genre, it seems.

Also, you're right: metal doesn't need harsh vocals. However, to say that liking/wanting harsh vocals lacks taste is moronic. Not to mention, Tesseract being an example of "metal" is already debatable.

I do like the new vocalist though. I didn't know the new album was going to be lacking harsh vocals, though. That sucks.

Well, I don't consider any band in this 'djent' wave to be anything more than mid-tier. For example, I consider Obituary to be of higher tier than Tesseract, just depends on the mood I'm in.

Some of my favorite bands of all time are Agalloch, The Crown, Psycroptic, Wormed (duh), Destroyer 666, Suidakra. But obviously, not limited to them whatsoever. As you may have realized, metal is my favorite genre.

I've had a few days to devour this. It's fantastic.

For those that want to get a good feel for the album with one song, try Exile(d). The first track ( indeed, the entire first half of the album) is less good than what is to come.

Of course this is my opinion but I can understand how some would have rated Tesseract a decent band yet a second tier band. Something I disagree with entirely, but something that is at least reasonable.
