Well if they finally get it all working good for them and the community. I just honestly feel they are trolling us and/or very inexperienced and have no idea what they are doing. They also said this on 4seasonsgaming,

Well I think that trying to involve less populated (by QL players) areas isn't a bad thing in itself. It may be a bit delusional but it can't hurt and it would be cool if they managed to get a mini-league running there.

If you quoted that for the numbers, implying that they were all false, I do agree that they look inflated. However, they may dispose of more information then us : incomplete teams, teams yet to form... Even so, what is publicly available is often far from what is claimed. Regardless of the claims (which I'd like to make sure were made by actual WGA people), the number of teams gathered so far is good... although for some modes only.

I can see some leagues being dropped but others providing much entertainment to the community.

I believe this was talking about the community in general that would be involved in a quake live league. That is where those numbers initially came from, from what I remember.

Unfortunately, clans expressing interest versus clans actually taking the initiative to sign up are two very separate things. Reaper made a mistake in saying "we have" as opposed to these numbers are based on clans we've spoken to that have expressed interest and told us how many teams they could each sign up.

This is unfortunate and a learning lesson going forward. No one was trolling you guys though aeoL. We really did look forward to having an Australia and New Zealand division because you guys have some really solid players and it would've been fun to have your support in this community as well.

Oh nice, two other teams appeared in NA TDM! Still not enough though, obviously. What is the plan for NA TDM if only say 5 teams or less signup? I see a 2v2 TDM category also but nothing was ever said or promoted about that far as I can remember, would like more info plz thx

I was bugging wookster about mercylimit and in the end he said it will be 80 (60 would be more than enough, but whatever). However, http://worldgamersarena.com/wga-rules/ still doesn't mention this.

Hey Lam, the mercylimit will be 80 in case there are no mention of it before the game starts, if one of the teams wants 60, it will be 60. I will mention it on the TDM cup page when the cup starts

Isn't this unfair competing? because if Match 1 gets played vs team A vs B and match 2 is B vs C. Match A = 80 mercy limit, match B = 60. B wins both matches with mercy limit, then I guess team C will obviously complain because they got less chance due to mercy limit being 20 less as A vs B. Just doesn't sound stable in my opinion.

#tdmpickup uses mercylimit 50.

Best comeback I remember was 37 frag comeback of team rehepapp in #tdmpickup Draft #3. That took them 3 consecutive quads and 5+ minutes to equalize.

AFAIR, the other team needed 8-9 minutes to get such lead before their frag escape was stopped. So the full comeback took 10+ minutes, although the big frag run took 5.


What this tells me is that amazing comeback speed is 7 frags per minute.

That would explain mercylimit 80 of CB, but then again: how many teams you've seen that are able to concentrate and do this kind of run for 10 minutes straight, after losing by 70 frags in first half?


I met many people who said a 50 frag comeback happened in the past, but curiously enough, after years of using 80 and 60 in official games, and before that years of no mercylimit setting at all - nobody can present evidence...


So maybe our (#tdmpickup's) setting of 50 is too close to real-life comebacks. But 60 is more than enough.

Besides, it's just a limit which makes you lose. You don't want to lose - don't hit the limit, it's simple.

It's the same with time limit. Normal people (read: not ABSVRD) don't call for longer time limit, but so many sports and even Shootmania requires minimum score difference for a match to end.

So we somehow accept a time limit that ends the game, even if it's 214:213.

Yet we still can't agree that score difference of 60 is more than enough to give a team their win :)

No, but that doesn't mean people won't start to complain. I think as a result, people will stop playing next seasons. Those 20 extra frags could be enough time to get a quad and gain more map control, as a result a closer score. However I do agree 60 is enough.

Even in CB (formally mercylimit 80), nobody complains if you spawn 60 or 50 by mistake.

The only problem can be placement based on frags. I hope WGA won't use this kind of rating system where frags decide.

Because A) it makes clans owning on dm20 in better position to more tactical clans picking dm14 and B) then higher mercylimit (or lack of one) becomes a tactic to break point ties in the season.

Maybe I just misjudged the QL community. To me personally even 50 frags is more as enough. But since people don't seem to agree on that , 50 vs 60 vs 80 -frag mercylimits. I expected a huge whine to take place if something would happen with unequal mercy limits in the same cup. I mean we all love some ESR drama :)

That can happen if and only if the frags/frag difference can be deciding factor for end season placement.

If you're sorting by 1. points 2. direct game result, 3. maps, 4. activity (as in games played), everything will be good and there's no place for whine.

If however you decide to sort by 1.points, 2.maps, 3. frags, mercylimit can suddenly become and issue, but not bigger issue than good dm20 clans having advantage over good dm14 clans. That was basically what HoQ did and I didn't like it.

There is no way that frags are going to be the deciding factor in terms of ranking the teams. It will depend on the maps won/lost just like in CB

What if both teams have same score and map difference overall, but games between them were 1:2 and 2:0? (HoQ would use frags before ever checking results of games between two teams)

What if both teams have same score and map difference and it was 0:2-2:0 or 1:2-2:1 between them? What's the next thing to decide?

If there is still no conclusion after the net-secondary (map) points in total and the score difference between the teams, then there will be a deciding game(bo3) to decide who progresses.

The US has the same mappool but the US one is not final. In case there are changes in the US mappool, that will be announced by sp1ked and/or reaper

We signed up for this. But I thought HoQ would be "the" major tdm league. Hope they are not both at the same time. the league is already drifting into clanbase cup. We will see

What is the format of duel cup? Will it be one time event or players will have a time period to arrange and play their matches? In what system? When?
There is some explanation on your site but it's so team modes centric that I need to ask.

The rules don't seem to be different from the other leagues.

(a) League season will consist of 8 weeks regular season and 8 weeks of playoffs. A Schedule of matches will be drawn up before season commences and distributed to the team captains. This season a schedule will be posted on the website in calendar form so as to avoid confusion.

(b) League play points will be used to determine seed positions for playoffs. Depending on how many teams we have for this year it might only be the top 2 or 3 teams in each division that make playoffs.

My cents about your approach on this:

FIRST: Do a good job in one season (admining & site updates, coverage )

SECOND: Get a deal with sponsors based on the success and work

..like everywhere in life first you have to put seed in the ground before there will be any fruits!!!!

Except in Quake, some top level teams won't sign up unless there's good money to be won.

That makes people (esp. admins) think "we can get big names and publicity if we offer prizes".

To us, lower division players, that's only demotivating when we see this happening.
