#qlpickup.us CTF for lyfe.

QLStats has an API for pickup bots. It's used by #tdmpickup, #playquake, #natdm.ql and #qlpickup.ru.

There was an attempt to track #qlpickup.us, but there were two problems: 1. nobody on IRC used their QL nicks and there was no nick mapping and 2. nobody linked servers which QLStats crawler needs to see when games start (that's also a current problem with #natdm.ql, I think it's an American thing).

#qlpickup.us has a page in QLStats already, so the QLStats developers did their part IMHO. It's a question of channel admins whether they want to put in additional work (mainly with maintaining the nick mapping). Ask them.

I was talking to wision about it a couple months ago. Unfortunately, I lost track of things. Maybe Syncore or one of the other admins has interest in getting it on the way. I'm not sure if they are even aware of QLstats.

1. I doubt IRC2QL nick linking is implemented in #qlpickup.us
2. How do we link servers ourselves?

1. Obviously, because there's no advantage if you don't:
a) care about stats,
b) generate teams automatically.
#playquake staff are working on a useful CTF rating for their own stats page, I was told QLStats will implement same rating formula when it matures.

2. From user's perspective - just pasting the join link to the channel, or setting server for upcoming pickup with !s on channels that support it.

syncore owns the bots, I hope we can get his attention on this. Is name linking only for team selections? While it's being used in tdm, I think ctfers would be more hesitant to use bot team selections. Is this done in other channels?

AFAIR, #playquake requires it (even 8/8 pickup won't start without using !s to set server). #tdmpickup and #natdm.ql support it as an option. I don't know about the others.

Name linking is required to properly detect which games were pickups. Of course, main incentive to maintain such mapping on our channel (I'm one of #tdmpickup people) is getting teams automatically. Otherwise nobody would care, I imagine.

assuming captains aren't stacking teams deliberately, and that captains adequately account for your skillset/position, it implies that they overestimate your abilities

Or it could be you calling people out in a pug when somebody takes your mega and then say something stupid like "His Configuration is wrong" when before a pickup game starts

I hope to see an accuracy feature in the future, so we can fondly remember the time baaked literally had 4 percent overall accuracy on troubled waters.

Wow Baaked is doing really well despite all the shit he gets from other players.

He's a level 2-3 MVP with 60%+ wins. I'd say he's a little hot potato right now.

A lot of it is that his contributions to a team are less obvious on a surface level because he generally has absolutely atrocious (even for ctf) KDR's and about 2k less damage dealt than average. He has what I call "the baaked factor." A combination of dumb luck and the skill he does possess to somehow be in the right places at the right times.

Plus a lot of the shit he gets comes less from his performance and more from whining and being annoying, not to mention singing classic rock songs and shit in mumble. He's pretty funny sometimes though.

stats updated with proper game count(as pthy noticed he played way more than 50 games). Before i was dropping some matched due to server time. Now there's 3x data behind the scenes. More accuracy.

Okay, I finally added qlstats functionality to the pickup bot and made some other changes. Check the red link in the first post on the QLPickup.us website. It will start to track the games today. The new system will likely require some heavy beta testing and might have some bugs. Let's see how it works in action
