Was just hoping for a buy-in duel league with divisions of equal skill, since the whole ladder/"play your friends for $$" thing doesnt seem to work out so well :(

I mean, i don't feel like paying 2€ to maybe only play 1 match. However, paying for the "operation" costs of running the league, play 6-8 BO3/5 matches, and then use 75% of the money for the top 2 spots in each division.

For the broad community, not the same 8 pro/semi-pro players who won all the weekly tournaments anyway. (No offense, you do bring good matches every sunday :D)

Now, Quake Live is pretty much like the Roman Empire. It's dying but Byzantium (Europe) is still doing okay. Now, if we spend money/energy on Rome (North America), which is like destined to fall anyway, then it will pull EU down as well. By splitting up the empire and saying "screw NA", EU can still live for a long time.

If you apply that logic to real situations it's both immoral and not necessarily true. Imagine if the US just ignored Chicago and let it rot away. That would:

1. be incredibly immoral
2. have the potential to be counter-productive to their own desires

Neither of these really applies to Quake of course, so I'm not disagreeing with you there. Just thought I'd point out that this logic is very dangerous if applied elsewhere.

Also, if proper investment goes into helping people, it really isn't a "small chance". Countries have seen incredible improvement in short periods of time.
