Drastic changes since DH. Most noticable is picmip and fov. I tend to change my cfg quite often.

Maybe it's related to r_lodbias? Some report that a value of -2 makes the model smaller. (See #80 and Lorfa's console guide.)

doubt that, I did all the stuff myself and this cfg is almost 2 years without major changes.
P.S screens look too bright in chrome somewhy but fine when you download them Oo

I tested it. The in-game gfx looks very bright indeed. And I do not understand why do you use r_lodbias -2 with keel? He is even smaller then. If you use tank, then -2 but with keel I would recommend to play with 0.

And then of course "typical" shaft settings :) The ctf cfg, of course, looks nice though. good work there.

I'm pretty sure lodbias -2 shows full geometric detail of the models, thus bigger. A value of 2 is what makes them smaller.

r_lodbias 2 // override distancing and make them always look lowest detail (smallest)
r_lodbias -2 //override the other way and make them not (ever?) scale down so shown at max geometric detail, largest

values in between the max work too to just adjust the distancing, but no one tends to be interrested in that.

Hello all.
This is what mine current looks like:
current setup

I really love the look of your 'black' one ins.
I would love to give it a try with a few changes:
1) Remove the glow from the models/teleport
2) Add colour back to the items.

I was wondering if that is possible, and if someone could explain how to do it?

No, that's ok. I figured out how to get the same look after playing around for awhile.

It's a result of messing around with the bloom settings. Problem is you can't really get rid of the player halo without greying out the model as well. Simple items are also coloured along with the map, so removing map colour removes item colour.

His gamma is fucked up, but less so than yours. After seeing two attempts that both fuck up the gamma, I'm curious if semi transparent rocket explosions are even possible at all without fucking the gamma. If it is possible, then you both lose, if not, then he wins. You lose regardless :x

nah, fucking up the lighting is what makes them transparent =PPPP different between our cfgs (which copied from me lol) is r_gamma and possible mapobb :D

well after tinkering around with it, I appear to have reached a nice semi-transparent rocket and plasma effect and by increasing contrast and gamma slightly the appearance seems practically the same:

My previous contrast and gamma values were 1.30 and 1.10 respectively. The only other difference is r_mapOverBrightCap which I previously had at 120.

Of course, you've probably got a ridiculously low r_bloomSceneIntensity so it's going to be a lot harder to compensate with gamma, contrast and mapobb, but your settings are just overkill anyway imo.

it definitely looks better in regards of lighting, as what im using dulls the hud etc. cant say that bothers me anymore as ive grown used to in during the months ive been using these settings =) i would use your method if i could stand looking at the piss stains all over the falls and floor. maybe ill try combining evils config with those settings at some point, it worked very well for me in the past =P thanks anyway yo

I don't think so. Anyway, this thing is achieved solely by specific bloom settings. It's probably possible to fiddle further with this shit if anyone cares.

you cant just change the font but you can script the hud so that images (of the q3 font) are used for the digits. you can check it in my hud but its probably more organized elsewhere

all hail the stupid hud res in ql.

one thing that should really be looked in to is putting the option to set hud res or at.lest give pre made ones .

eg.: 640x480 ( Current ) as to use 640x480 and 1280x960
800x600 for 800x600 and 1600x1200
1024x768 ( and oddity as I haven't seen any res in it's multiplications)
840x525 (16:10 ) for 1680x1050
640x360 (16:9) for 1280x720
960x540 (16x9) for 1920x1080

those should cover common res setups

TL;DR
Huds in QL are retarded and I want to make some nice custom xhairs :(

Um... okay I'm a random noob but here are some pics from my cfg and hud.

What I find cool with that cfg is that you have no problem of lightning on some maps. It's based off l1nkin config from which I took the vertex + light limitation stuff.

I only use a different crosshair for the SG for the lulz.

I also put some ca demos from my troll account in there to show off how I aim on this cfg. CA scrubs calling me cheat every game, lol. Not that interesting but shows how pathetic the NA quake scene is.

I usually watch demos using the cfg of the player to see what they are seeing normally. Watching strenx with strenx cfg - and all the shots look so fucking easy, but when I play on that cfg I hit fuck all.

It was my HUD for a long time and yesterday I merged that HUD with the one I used until yesterday. I had a more crazy HUD before this one with all the info around the c:, health, ammo, armor and clock, but it was too distracting around the ch and blocking vision.

Up arrow turns on the clock and weaponbar and down turns them off for CA.

Basically just r_overbrightbits 0, r_mapoverbrightbits 0, vertexlight 1, picmip 5 and I turn gamma down a hair for brighter maps. 8xQ AA forced on in Nvidia drivers.
