Very nice map, 9.657/10, the conveyor belt with the boxes on it is cool, and the hidden BS is so beastly, such good place to set up with all 4 teammates ))

I think it's the most shamanic map ever because you can hide in the little space at the end of the conveyor belt for 20 mins and guarantee your team a shamanic victory.

Map is awesome and definitly something different from the others but i think the box conveyor should go a bit faster (also noticed if you stay on the carpet of the conveyor you don't move with it), still i want more maps with less quakish design, with more nature (grass rocks trees etc) or city stuff. A bit more open to changes like UT99 maps if you see what i mean.

I don't think it would be wise. I'm all for variety, but ql has the certain artstyle and it's technological boundaries that aren't suited for city and nature environments. IMHO it would look like shit and I don't think ql looks like shit by any means when it plays to it's graphical strenghts.

I had no idea bout the technical stuff but i remember back in the 2000-2003 days they were a few maps with nature and it was great, there was also a map in a forest (yes in a real forest with loads of tree) and it was smooth and had no fps drops issues at the time. As for the city stuff i remember Morpheus and Crane from UT99, it was sweet, aaaah... old memories :)

I'm gonna try to find some of this maps in my HDD or in lvlworld.com to illustrate all this.

it's a q2 map. A good port makes it look like q2 or better on a different way, while making it suitable for the new game's gameplay and hopefully having some differences with the original so it's fresh, an addition more than a copypaste.
Considering all that the QL port is awesome. Looks perfect for what it was intended on q2 and the mod it was actually played on it (ffa).

The new q2dm1 port isn't though. That one makes you wonder if syncerror (or the mapper. I'm assuming he is) played q2 or isn't a total noob, as q2dm1 isn't just an imbalanced ffa map.
For example winters edge is better and ospdm1 is on a level of its own; no idea why wouldn't they get the latter. Instead ql's q2dm1 is similar to the q4 version, which is an abomination.

You got something there I must admit. how did it play though? in comparison to the typical corridor/room type of gameplay?

It's all neat and stuff, but how do these maps play? I know ffa in weird environment is fun, but I can't see any of these maps from the competitve side of things.

well, nothing against competitive stuff. but the problem of quakelive is, that every single gamemode is competitive. there should be at least 1 mode funbased teamgame, imo. 16 slot CA comes closest to this atm. missing some 60 slot randomizer epicness.

Imho the closest 16 players ca comes to is clusterfuck:] but in general I agree. Although the strength of ql lies in competition and this side of the game is as uncared for as the noob friendly side.

yeah, halloween zombiefest (infected) was the first time QL impressed me in that regard, proving that id software is willing to think outside the box, yet it was mostly ruined by faggots hiding on ledges

q3 is filled with artistically spectacular maps and fun modes. Problem is they won't make it to QL.
