Overrated movie maker that after so many years of making movies still obsesses about slow-mo third person shots, taking all flow away from the movie.

colosseum 2 was cool. but of course cheater, 'nuff said

rofl, colosseum 2 was cool for the 1st minute until that disappointing moment when you realize that the entire movie has the exact same soundtrack, totally diluting it's initial oomph and rendering it all borderline boring and tedious.

edit: just rewatched it... it's actually exactly at the 5:00 mark... that relentless onslaught of forced aural epicness just ruins it for me, because until the 5:00 mark it was all highly enjoyable... then at 7:00 it seems like finally there's going to be a shift in gears but once again at 7:50 it's back to the usual forced epicness... right until the end almost. Every time the epic music comes to a climax with some clutch kill @ quad you think "oh wow, great way to end that segment, hopefully now I'll be treated to a different form of music" but no... it just goes on and on... The different music near the end of the movie is 7 minutes too late.

that's actually a fair point, but the quality of frags was so good that bombastic music can't quite ruin it for me. hardly zeroql's achievement I know, but the point still stands, that it's a pretty cool movie.

What? As far as I remember the majority of the frags were quad SG runs. Colloseum 2 was so overrated.

This. His fascination for "epic" music is just... meh. It's not that it's bad per se but it just becomes bland when you try to cram so much of it. When I watch a movie by KOS or entik I might not enjoy all of the tracks but there's always one that I fall in love with and I have to check the credits to see what it's called. I still haven't had to do that after a zeroql movie.

yes i have, they were way better. but 70% of the frags were not even average so i dont know why he made a 14 minutes highlight movie. Im sure a 5 minute highlight movie would have been much better

I don't know why you would expect anything else from an event highlight movie. It's not like 5 people are going to do a 3-midair rocket frag on rapha in 3 days. If you're lucky you get one maybe two epic frags and sometimes it's not even a frag(cypher 2 midairs on dahang on dm6) per event. The rest is always just standard frags with some commentary and "epic" music to fluff it up. There are exceptions to this like stermy's movie or one movie that I think hell5pawn made? But I'm not holding my breath because the title has "DH" in it. On the contrary...

honestly I don't think noctis' frags are incredible. That movie mostly worked because of the opponents and the oldschool feel. Most of it was well executed if standard tdm.

Not sure why eeveryone is so eager to have event movies, there just aren't enough good content at every lan to make a good movie. Just seems like a waste of time from the moviemakers side, and perhaps in this case, even a waste of money from dreamhacks part.

I gave a good mark because I liked the movie despite it's flaws and efforts given for QuakeLive should be supported in my opinion.

Still, some frags were just not that wow-worthy at all.

personally I think it's nice that individual events get their own frag video as you'll have something to remember them by but I have to agree it should be way shorter. look at this video from eswc 2005: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXlAXNSJ1tY - mix some real life footage in and you're golden, absolutely no need to go overboard with the editing and length.

Regardless of who made it, I thought it was quite a good movie. My main criticism is that several frags were sort of ruined by going into 3rd person.

-rocket fx, imo that kind of explosion(bright sprite lasting long) should never appear in any frag movie.
-low max hit sound rate, great lg feels shit with that
-move camera away from POV right before frags which are definately more impressive watching from first person.

Didn't like the music.
Too much slow-mo. Way too much.
Too much 3rd person. Way too much.
Frags were so-so and seemed completely unrelated to a competitive event.
Reedom sucks.
Best part was by part the final one were you can actually understand the meaning of what a Quake Bo5 is.
No av3k retiring video and little homage afterwards.

I'm leaning towards 4/10 because this may have been last DH for quake and this movie just fail to show the just amount of epicness, gave it 5/10 because Evil vs Rapha kills and starting with K1llsen frag and then Av3k kinda saved it but not completely.

This cfg is absolutely horrible, way too dark just so u can add some lightning effects on rockets and grenades, with the shitty damage bobbing. All this is combined with too loud (both in volume and loudness) music. A final in which some maps are with shoutcast and other aren't? Not only did you make me miss sharpe's dh video's, you also got unbanned for this piece of mediocre moviemaking. Well played.
