The fact that you're a virgin does not affect you internet speed capacity. Make sure to close all porn torrents before you test again.

holy cow. you should know that. also check for any windows updates related stuff.
test with another machine like a laptop or somthing.
try speedtest.net.
try changing routers/modems. ask ur other virgin friends.
last call isp saying u have a bad conn.

If you're not sure you use torrents, you don't use torrents.

This is pretty basic, but make sure you are not using any kind of downloading software. Chances are you would know already.

Try to find someone with similar provider/location and ask them. Or you can learn a lot about trace rout and try to trace your connection to quake live servers

Congrats you got neighbours who wants to be modern, and invested in one of them Fancy internet tvs. Happened to me.

You might want to check your ping and packetloss (preferably by using WinMTR) to random sites/non-ql servers to see whether its your connection or i3d. A lot of people are having problems with their servers - routing issues.

My brother lives across the street - about 50 yards away from me. He's on the same ISP and his connection is fine. I've just run spybot search and destroy - it found alot of porblems. I'm going to try a server now and see if my ping's any better. Thanks for the replys

Tracert yet? compare it to a server that does work well. Also i believe the german servers have been shit for quite a while now.

I've just played on a UK server for a while - it still wasn't 'right' but it seemed better after that spybot search and destroy. I was pinging 20-35 - see, it's usually more solid than that. It was playable though. You can see the imperfections in the lagometer.

It's better to have stable 70 than unstable 30

Are you connecting to your router via cable or wireless? If wireless - could be that your network driver has updated and now isnt functioning properly. Maybe you are on unprotected wireless and someone is using it. Log into your router and check for wireless clients if that is the case. (that your wireless is unprotected.)

Try using pingtest.net as mentioned, and maybe contact your provider? Ask them, maybe they can give you an answer. Could be that there's a problem with your local internet exchange point that they're working on as you're experiencing the issues (happened to me too). The thing is they won't call you for that, to notify you. You have to chase them up.

Here are two likely scenarios and their options:

1) Somehow, the cable got "mis-calibrated" (that can happen when someone in your house decides to migrate a cable socket or have an additional cable TV socket.) Call your cable supplier, they can re-calibrate the house amplifier.

2) Someone (or several ppl.) in your house / block decided to get cable internet as well. Since there's only a limited frequency range available for internet and the cable may be branched several times before it reaches your home, you share those frequencies with others. If this is the case, there's no option for you but to get other internet than cable or live with it.

Nothings changed that I can tell - I live with my girl friend in our own house, we don't have/use wireless and we only have one PC (mine). The ping problems just started happening.

Get any other pc that runs quakelive (friend, other ql player, neighbour) and try it but shutdown/disconnect yours. Use cable, no wireless. If it does the same, the problem is past your PC, if not backuping and reinstalling windows would be the best approach.
