He just said what it changes. If you do a tripple rg-shot frag in QL it's in most cases entertaining but running around with an instagun and giving some random shots is never entertaining.

Ye exactly, I like W§W now compare W§W to SM and you'll see exactly why I hate SM, the game has no depth at all it's just plain boring and dull. The game only gets pushed into eSports trough the publisher who invests absolutely inappropriate amounts of money into it (buys players and leagues). Ye Riot Games kind of does the same with LoL but at least LoL has some spectator and player value in comparison to SM so it is more justified.

action in sm doesnt happen only @ capture points... considering its 3v1, theres much more action going on than in ctf matches, not to mention duel[3 minutes of avoiding other player]... its because defense has to be dynamic, cutting off routes of attack, while trying to kill attacker, and not getting killed...

also, why ztn example was good? because you tend to not realise SM is turn based, not timelimit... in ql duel you can chose to skip item pickup attempt... while "picking up item" is the objective in SM...


actually, ql is much more about fixed positions than SM...

you seem to forget that in CTF there are two flags and not one and in the most simplistic view of CTF you need to balance between attack and defense. so the attention between the two main focal points is divided and changed dynamically.

And that is completely ignoring what #84 said about PU spawns, diff weapon pickups, choosing routes where to frag and avoid respawns of killed players. coordinating your penetration in the enemy territory and safe escape.

You do nothing wrong, the game is simple and boring either to play or just watch. Nadeo upon the success of MOBA games (and especially exceeding its father-genre, RTS) took an example wrong. They simplified the game, but failed to acknowledge the fact why it helped MOBA. Did you recognize how many heroes in those games? Close to 100 or even more. Even if MOBA games both plain simple and boring too, there isnt 2 games look the exact same because of the variety of heroes, therefore if theres a match you almost always seeing something new... And we didnt even took items into consideration, which causing 3-4 sub-heroes per one, because of the impact they make on the game. Ok the things youll see not ground breaking or anything, but still different. Especially playing, but i think for competitive play too since 5v5 just offers great variety in tactics and coordination by default.

Now in SM there is 2 weapons, strict gameplay rules. You see the same shit repeating every 2 minutes. Will the railgun player score 3 frags, or will he get caught up in the BFG spam? Thats it, this is the game. Yes there is different routes and defending positions, but i think that is maximum 4-5 route per map for the attackers and probably about 6-9 defensive positions (which usually taken according to the attackers route).

It is always variety that makes a game interesting. CS wouldnt last for a year without money being implemented, since every team would have just buy 1 AWP, 1 AUG and 3 M4/AK, every match would have looked the same. What made it interesting its the fact often teams had to go with SMGs, pistols etc against a well equipped team, and if they can make a difference out of much less supported by superor tactics and coordination. In Quake there is a lot different types of aim, strategies, playstyles... But even in a figured out game like chess there is countless openings, and counter-moves.
As far as it comes to SM it offers no variety. It doesnt matter who plays, be it Stermy or Rapha you see the same thing over and over. If youd be shown various footages without names, you couldnt distinguish. Couldnt even tell if its a smart tactical player or an outstanding aim player perhaps.

It doesnt matter what you cite as an example be it real sports or e-sport, something very advanced or demanding or just plain simple, everything from football through chess to LoL matches shares one thing in common: you almost never see the same thing twice. This is where Nadeo committed perhaps the biggest design failure: in SM everything always the same. You can put 1M$ or bring the best excitement-faking casters, the fact is the same 30 minutes scenario repeating every 2 minutes, noone will every stay excited about something like that.

Yes, Elite mode is way better than the normal gametypes available. Try it out!
