Its taken me a while, but I've finally re-written this post to clear up any confusion, and list the specifications of the mice coming soon. Theres a lot of information!
There are two mice planned:
Aurora - using the Avago ADNS-3090 sensor, this is to be released first
Velocity - using the Avago ADNS-3050 sensor, this is to be released second
The company name is "Ninox", which is a genus of Owl, and is meant to convey the idea of a stealthy intelligent hunter which can see in the dark ;)
Newsletter
I have set up a newsletter for those that would like the latest updates by email.
Its just a temporary one for the Ninox Aurora, it will announce everything people need to know about the Aurora development all the way up until its released:
https://tinyletter.com/ninox
When the Aurora is released, that newsletter will stop, the last newsletter will direct you to the website where there will be a more general newsletter, which will also cover the Velocity development, and everything else, going into the future.
Information about the beta tests
Things are a bit confusing at the moment because the Velocity was developed in the shell which is now being used for the Aurora. So at the moment, both mice are using the "Aurora" shell. The beta testers will very shortly be receiving the Velocity - in the Aurora shell - along with two other shells which the Velocity could use, so that they can choose their favourite. Then, shortly afterwards, they will receive the Aurora, which will be more of a "true" beta test, in that it'll be a lot more like a finished product.
List of beta testers: To be confirmed
Contributions
Theres been some interest from people who like the project and wish to contribute funds - if you would like to it would be really greatly appreciated. Its not necessary for the project, it should go along absolutely fine without, which is why I didn't bother doing it in the past. But its not lost on me that I don't have unlimited funds, and so it could be extremely helpful, especially with giving me room to do extra things that gaming communities would enjoy (like a casted tournament with decent prizes), or adding extra features to the mice (theres a few cool things which could become possible). I have no idea if many people would like to, but don't see any harm in giving people the chance.
- All money contributed will be spent on things which benefit the mice and/or gaming community
- Theres no minimum or maximum amount
- Theres no direct reward for contributing, except a nice fuzzy feeling and a lot of gratitude!
So if you'd like to support the project, simply click the link: Contribute to Ninox
Thanks!
