This game had so much potential, if only they managed to get rid of some flaws it would have made games like BF/ET look linear, from a strategy+metagame point of view.

Also, shame on Clanbase, allowing unprofessional admins to let cheaters win competitions (Nationcup), thus destroying the game (which was almost dead anyways) forever competitively-wise.


P.S.: Lol@perfect round, all I see is a much better team steamrolling clueless people who still have no clue how to play salvage after so many years.

Too bad the game died so quick. SD didn't put out any competition options from the start and when they did, the community already made one with shitty rules enforced by people that thought they were playing Wolfenstein Enemy Territory instead of Quake Wars.

yeah it was a really awesome game, those trip wire mines, artilleries, hornets, hell everything was just so fun.

But it probably was one of the worst competitive title IMO, I have no idea why people were attempting to do 4v4 tournaments on a game that was based around 8v8 and higher.

I was always thought that the BF / Enemy Territories games were just to have some casual fun once in a while but I guess some guys will attempt to play anything competitively, hence why there's tic tac toe tournaments.

it depends on the map too, i dont like the idea of INFANTRY (just footsoldiers) and the map SALVAGE
VOLCANO is short played in ETQWpro, there is no more FLYER DRONE war going on ...
you can actually see for yourself, try to watch ISLAND played normal and INFANTRY style ... wich do you like more ?

I didn't like this game but thats a bummer. Always sad to see older games become unplayable especially if they have niche playerbases remaining that use that game more as a gathering place than a game.

I still have the DVD UK version, hoped to play a bit on Windows7 eventually, for me servers are available in UK & Germany, but iam stuck on Linux :)

Some time i like to play it again, and Quake4 too just for the fun of it.

I decided in 2008 to focus more on Quake3 like games, because i liked it more, and when u focus on it then you cannot play idTech4 games at the same time ...
