Cybsum announce four teams (36 comments)

The Cyberathlete Summit will featuring six of the best teams from around the globe. Four of those teams have been announced.

On 23 and 24 June Cybsum will take place in Paris, France and give away 8 100€ in prizes. A total of six teams will be invited to the tourney. Three international teams and three French teams. One will be decided this evening via the TwitchTV E3 Tournament, where YouTube Money will play Mercenary Ops in the grand final (coverage here).

Today, however, four teams have already been announced. Millenium already announced their new team featuring Strenx, Cypher and Av3k and they have of course been invited to attend. The other teams are 3 Old Men and colwn, featuring Quake legends and LDLC, with Counter-Strike players.

There are the teams and their players:

The final French team will be decided via an online qualifier by EsportsFrance.com. They have invited sixteen of the best French team, based upon their results at Gamers Assembly and on online ladders. This online qualifier will start 9 June and end on 12 June. Below are the teams invited.

Noctis I don't think so but fox joined teams for doom3 and painkiller iirc. So did fazz for painkiller. I wasn't around back then so I have no idea if they actually did compete or not but if they did there are no significant traces left.

It's just that seeing 2 guys who are supposed to have retired come back for what will prolly be 3 months until they get fucking bored of the game for one reason or the other is kinda depressing.

Now, this was back in 04 or something, the scene wasn't the same back in the days ( and the idea of actually being a professional player was not nearly as unrealistic than it is now )

Something people might be missing is that the organizer is paying every teams flights and hotels and everyone gets prize money as well.
I'm still playing quake tdm (and iCTF for that matter :D).

the point is (from the mouse* school of laziness:]): seriously though I wouldn't really give a slightest shit, but quake scene is in decline as it is and watching top players: people responsible for excellent, fun and epic time on the quirkiest, most fucked up scene of the best game in existence moving even partially to this simple and judging by e3 showmatch unwatchable game makes me wanna kick the mothafuckin' wall <kicks the mothafuckin' wall, hurts like a mofo, manly tears are being shed>.

I don't mind that some players may play multiple games, but it's sad that there are ~~people~~ whores who invent excuses to not participate various QL tournaments and disappoint quake community, yet so easily are bought to be immediately available and publicly play some boring crap game.

This Shitmania will be huge with or without Quake pros, mainstream gamers don't give a fuck who's Cypher or Fox. So, if there are tournaments to win and money to get why should it go to some fucking CoD/Halo/whatever scrub?

They don't owe anything to Quake community and if they have opportunity to earn some money I say go for it. And good luck.

well they have won every tournament so far, and at the e3 presentation (and other videos recorded there) it was very clear stermy is 10x better than spawn.

not to mention they stomped at pk, q4, d3, avp2 and every single game of the fast paced fps genre.

don't think so, but it was funny seeing stermy carrying his team with his superb positioning, and spawn at the next round missed like 6 shots in a row. There's also a video of stermy teaching him how to rocket jump (yep)...and that's all I've seen about that game.
