Hello everybody
Just wondering if anyone of you guys ever experience this weird issue with mouse sensitivity after changing logitech mx518 to logitech g400? Logitech says that g400 is the "new" mx518. After my mx518 was broken I decided to buy this "new" logitech mouse. After connecting the new g400 I found out that I a new software is needed - Logitech Gaming Software and the old one SetPoint is no longer supported... After uninstalling setpoint and installing this new software I found out that there is no any "pointer speed" settings within this software and I cant transfer pointer speed settings from setpoint software to this new one to retain and keep my old settings. After this weird problem comed up I changed the DPI in this new software to 1600 as I used before and then I found out that the mouse sensitivity in quakelive is about 4x or even more higher than it was before with mx518. Any ideas why? The dpi settings are the same, the pointer speed in windows doesnt changed...

also messes with the feeling of the mouse - even if you have the same dpi as before. I assume some added sens/accel?

Theres windows pointer speed, which won't affect QL sens if you use raw input (in_mouse 2)

But also in mouse drivers theres usually a sensitivity option, like if you have 1600 DPI and the sensitivity option ranges from 1-10, then setting it to 5 gives you the equivalent of 800 DPI and will affect QL even if you use raw input.

I don't really know how it is in setpoint, but maybe something like that has happened in your case.

That software is unnecessary. Just set your DPI to what you want and adjust Quake sensitivity to your liking.

actually it's nice to have the 3 top buttons usable for binds.
and when he don't use the software, he can't do what he wants to either.
so why not installing the software?

I've never found those buttons useful for binds personally. I suppose if he really NEEDS those then he's kinda screwed, but I personally wouldn't be dependent on them.

measure the cm/360� needed with the mx518 and the settings u used with it, and then set the DPI in the LGS that you need the same cm/360�.

But i personally would suggest you to put the DPI to 800DPI and then change QL's ingame sens to the same cm/360� as you had with the mx518.

I have been using logitech mice for years and my advice would be : dont ever install any driver/software, just plug and play.
I had a mx518 b4 and bought the g400 a few days ago aswell, it just works perfectly w/o setpoint.

You can type in \viewpos if you want to get a more exact figure. It will show you what degrees you are at relative to some point that I don't know. The values go from like -180 to 180.

Mate, I went from an original MX518 to a new G400, too. Just divide your sensitivity by 1800, then multiply it by 1600. Same sensitivity - Sorted.

I went thru the same thing

1. There's still mouse software with just a new name. You can execute it thru new general logitech suite. Look for logitech icon in task bar. It has sliders and such.
I prefer not to use it and simply use m_mouse2

2. FYI: All buttons, including side scrolls, and DPI buttons, are programmable

3. To prepare yourself for the future mice, games, OS, USB rates - always know what your cm/degree ratio is.

Question
Is it better to use low DPI and high sens or high DPI and superlow sens?

800dpi is supposed to be the best setting with the g400.

It doesn't *feel* any different when I actually have it *in my hand*.

It's not the exact same weight, but the mouse feels the same aside from the texture.

Thanks. I'm thinking of getting one - though I love the WMO I have large hands and I like the shape of the MX518/G400 too.
