meh, I always valued Single Player way more than Multiplayer, multiplayer is generally saturated with retards wherever you look. where as a good singleplayer game is always aimed at making you ejaculate.

Q3/QL is my only exception to date, because it's a competitive artform, although I love practicing TDM with bots... they don't cheat, spam, insult, ragequit, they agree with all my votes, always ready up on time, and rarely teamkill (damned be ye, anarki, and thou post-frag rockets!)

Yes. When HL1 was out there was Q2 and Starcraft so you could spend your time playing it already.
Meh, I think only SP games i finished were on consoles and still it was a waste of time because i'd prefer to practice more in fighting games but there were no online mode back in time so it was only possible to play them 1-2 times a week at gatherings.

How can it be a waste of time? It's a fucking epic adventure that doesn't last for more than a few hours but remains in your fondest memories for years to come, like a brilliant book or a classic movie.

I've always felt that was an amazing single player game that a lot of people overlooked. I'm still patiently waiting for a sequel that fixes the things they dicked up.

Eh, it made sense plot-wise if that's what you meant. I know there was a good reason for it, but it's been too long for me to remember.

The sequence itself was kind of annoying though, yeah. It bugged me a little because that was the only part of the game that was damn near impossible to run your way out of. Even on the easiest settings you pretty much have to fight at least a few of the dudes, and if you do it without guns it's even worse.

I didn't mean plot wise, it was just the total opposite of what the game was all about.

It was like suddenly having a shooting gallery in Tetris.

I haven't reached that point yet but, until now it's always been refreshing to sporadically come across 3 cops, steal the machinegun off the first one and empty the magazine into the faces of the other 2 :D

I never used the guns and generally avoided the cops completely.

I'm playing it now, I realize this is the game I was reading about on wikipedia some months ago, and I have to say I am impressed, love the visual work, and the physics are better than expected. However there are somethings that seem somewhat... I dunno... can't really put a finger on it right now. I'll let you know when I finish it.

Q1 sp holds up fantastic. Definitely stood the test of time! Play it with some new client for eyecandy.

Doom 3? In my mind ID shamelessly shat on the good memories people had of this franchise by making a completely different game.

New game, new title. Doom3 doesn't suck as a game but it sucks fucking balls as a sequel.

I wasn't around during the doom 1 + 2 years so I never had those feelings you did.. as a single player experiance it was alright.. the graphics for it's time were impressive.

yep!

Yeah, and it's actually the third game in the quadrilogy (between Skeptic and Sacrifice, with Stranger being the first one). It's a bit "different" from the others because it uses a text parser instead of the typical point and click interface. It's a bit counter intuitive at first but actually works fairly fine, once you get used to it.

Anyway, it's a really great series of adventure games, i fully recommend them.

Yeah, I guess it was a source mod originally (I never played it back then so idk how different it is). It should run ok on slightly older hardware - it's still just the Source engine. Visually its about on par with Portal 2. It also has literally no action at all other than walking around and looking at things, so even at 30fps it would be doable.

Not really a game by most definitions I guess, but it's still really good.

Pretty good game if you ask me. Requires _a lot_ of thinking, even on novice difficulty for a beginner. Once you get hooked it definitely can last for months. Too bad developers keep raping the title instead of releasing a true successor =(

The Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Demo is pretty fun

It was a surprise, but I enjoyed Alan Wake tbh. I'm not really into these kind of games, but this one was entertaining. The game is repetitive, the facial animation and the voice acting is medicore at the best, but it's a good presentation and storytelling, and overall it has a "well made" feeling somehow. It's definitely worthy for a try imo.

If you try it, just make sure you maintain the atmosphere by playing on the hardest level and with loud headphones, else it won't "work" (it really won't!), but non of these dumb spooky games do anyway;)


ps.: Have no idea why, but the game is very demanding hardware-spec wise, and I had to play it on my gamer rig because my HTPC almost stood still even on the lowest setting:(

Co-op is great fun, but I was recommending the competitive multiplayer of Doom 2 through the Odamex client. Amazing experience, if you can look past the dated graphics.

gone the rp way, sniped my ass off, had every equipment and vehicle.. yesterday i raided with in a group of 25+ people and guess what, is was boring since we were practically half of the server. so we run in the dark throwing flares and chemlights to get some action. needs bigger servers and/or a bigger map (ye).

None of them are as hard or as satisfying as Quake(live) but most have MP scenes made up of very experienced players so you know you will have at least some challenge during the initial months anyhow.

Also if you do get good enuff at TFC the pickup scene is like more active than Counterstrike or TF2, shit you not O_o (long as you like playing from 11pm-6am).

Theres a shit ton of decent SP but for CHALLENGING MP that list is like it pretty much. Unless you think CS:GO is hard or something :)
