Wow... now i realize how much editing does for a movie. Because some of the frags were amazing but i still found the movie fucking boring. Didnt even bother to watch the last 3min. Zzzzzz.

a good fragmovie entertains you so much that you never see the progress bar, even if it lasts more than 10 mins. I saw it after...3 minutes.
To be fair that has a lot to do with the game picked, since q2 isn't the most spectacular fps game to begin with, and that it featured only one player no matter how good he is.

Well it is q2 anyway. 8.

Almost a documentary really, covering over a decade of play(Purri's still fragging in q2 today!)
The talent on display here is hard to appreciate if you've never competitively dueled(15mins) or tdm'ed(20mins) in quake2.
You won't find patches to make jumps easier, brief respawn times on items, plentiful health&ammo packs or an overpowered blaster!(spawn weap).
Purri's frags in this movie, on so many maps in both tdm and duel over so many years, make one point clear imho: he's one of a handful of players (of any quake mod) to completely redefine a playstyle and leave a legacy of signature gameplay.

+ music and map transitions
+++ novel(?) method of tallying fragged opponents' names in a tidy column. Adds nice visual punch to each highlight sequence.

either q2 isn't a very exciting game with exciting frags, or these frags are just lackluster and nothing special. or maybe they are, but in q2 terms. in any case, most boring 10 mins lately.

wow. It has been released finally. I did not expect that.

I want to thank Morgot for the privilege to feature my frags in his movie. I think that the editing and feeling of the movie was very nice, a lot of things that haven't been done before, and the atmosphere was nice. The first music track was also quite fitting! :)

I also tend to agree to what some of you other say about some of the less spectacular frags, and perhaps a bit to many rail frags, even if I always have been very rail heavy in Q2, much more than in QL :).

It's clear that the movie did not include frags from that many games/demos, but this is also a very time demanding task of the movie making process. As far as I know, the maker of the movie (Morgot) has not had any help witht this, but probably had to spend days if not weeks to dig through official demos that are available online. Morgot has also not been part of the q2 scene since ~1999-2000, so perhaps also not up to date with tournaments and players in general, and most likely also lacks a bit of the history of q2.

With that in mind, I really enjoyed the movie and hope the rest of you did as well :)

People saying rail rail rail? Can you even imagine how hard is to hit with a RG in q2? All weapons have delay + nonetcode...and hitbox? so fucking small... He had to predict shots not only aim as u do in q3/ql. Really good work and really nice frags by purri there.

PS: Purri, worth reading in the end. Hopefully u still enjoy this game and hopefully we will see you around another decade in q2!

really nice editing and fragquality. its the best q2 video ive seen so far. but its q2.. so only 9/10 :X

i like the pace of the movie, the editing and the config used. too bad it focused on so many rail frags.

railgun was a bit more skilled in Quake2 since it had a fire delay during which you had to track the target, still there should've been more hand grenade and double shotgun frags. i loved the feel of those weapons :D

rail in q2 make 100 Damage,it is a very powerful weapon and very hard to use,like CAREEM said,the hit-box in q2 is small,i mean,if you hit like 1 cm far from the player,he will not receive the Damage (not like in ql where it is so big that most players got 60% + rg ).
also the net-code and the delay between the shots make the difference.
also,you have to predict where the enmy is so you can hit him (again,like CAREEM said,not like ql where you just aim and shoot cause movement in ql are slow)

the gfx in the movie is so good,too bad there is not much rl or grenade frags.

well, it's bigger than the model in q2 and the hitbox doesn't fit tankjr when you're actually playing - it's only a bit bigger than keel.

Now, having to lead every shot makes it feel different, that's for sure.

well, it was way easier in q3 as well. In both cases, the netcode is to "blame" ( timenudge/antilag )

what sensitivity does purri use?

Last time I checked ( ql though ) it was 3.5 with an ie3.0 so something like 27-28cm/360. His old q2 cfg on cyberfight had no accel either but I can't remember what the value was ( and i have no idea what mouse he was using at the time )

I remember, when i learned to land air rockets in q2 a bit (really hard task), when i came to q3 it was like shooting out of rail, so easy to air rocket.

i like all quakes, but imho q2 really is stressed out on predictability, you just learn to predict very much. It is like playing chess.

A fantastic movie, great to see media made for Q2 amongst all the QL / Q3 videos nowadays.

Q2 will always be the best in my opinion. With the right settings it feels faster than the other Quakes, and while some things like the slow weapon switch may seem troublesome at first, they actually make the game more challenging by making you think more about which weapon to pick. I hop on FFA servers hosted by tastyspleen every now and then and it`s a blast.

Relaxing, the movie was pure control and positioning, it seemed little slower than other Quakes, but that's what i liked about it. Was like seeing Quake for the first time.

it is as fast or faster than aq2, which is something you played for years.

It definately aint faster than aq2 and to be honest i dont find even aq2 that fun anymore, mostly due horrible the netcode of q2.

finally someone who agrees with me, lol. I always hoped someone would finally fix that in-built delay (which stays even in LAN) like it is in warsow for example, a game that uses a modified q2 engine.

both mods (baseq2, opentdm, etc. and aq2) share the same movement and jumping horizontal and vertical acceleration so by that alone it should be the same speed, but regular q2 is faster because there's no falling damage and there are rocket jumps.
