Hey there, Im having trouble deciding which headset I should choose. My first preference is having a good soundstage so I can hear people in game accurately. I only have onboard sound - mobo Asus p5k SE (soundcard realtek alc883).
I do not want to purchase a soundcard, but I am afraid if I bought the Audio Technicia ATH-AD700 I would not get the most out of them, so I am thinking about getting the Superlux HD668B AKA (Samson SR850)
Any suggestions for good headphones? I think I won't be able to beat the price for the Superlux HD668B you can get them for around 70 USD

Currently I'm using a Logitech G15 keyboard and have never really given much thought to my keyboard. I'm thinking of selling it and looking for a simple cheap (preferably mechanical) keyboard, although this might be unrealistic as all the ones I have seen are quite expensive. Or should I just got with like the most basic logitech one?
Open to suggestions.

Also I might be considering getting an Artisan Hayate. But im not sure it warrants 2x the price of the Puretrak Talent? Opinions?

Now I hear a lot of people say that these new makes are quite inferior to the X08 models. I would like to know exactly what the differences are? Ive heard they have a nicer scroll, more solid side buttons and a dpi of 400.
Also you can tell its a X08 model by looking at the bottom of the mouse and at the P/N or Product number if it starts with X08 then this would be the X08 model correct?
The one I have now is X809742 which I believe is South east asian model.
I came across this showing the different models between IME 3.0s
B75-00113 is the american model of the old IE3.0

B75-00114 is the canadian model

B75-00115 is the deustch model

B75-00116 is the south-east asia model

Hmmm, thinking about ordering the Artisan Hayate/Gale tonight. Not sure if I should go with black or dark violet, would it make a difference for IME3.0 tracking?
I have had very back service from puretrak so not sure I want to deal with them anymore.
I did however find this glass mousepad from Japan and it looks quite promising

The Superlux HD668B's are amazing in my opinion, a great upgrade from my previous Plantronics GameCom 777 & SteelSeries Siberia V2. They're pretty cheap price-wise too which is the best thing! Best purchase I've made so-far in terms of headphones. :)

The Dell QuietKey isn't mechanical and is in fact rubber domes. If you want a cheap mechanical keyboard then I suggest you find a Dell AT101 or Dell AT102. They both use ALP's and have the build quality of an ox, strong & hard.

Hi Matuka, Yes people have had nothing but good to say about the Superlux HD668B's. I am having a hard time finding them online with cheap shipping to New Zealand (if you know of any good place to get them from please share). Regarding the dell keyboard soon after posting I researched and found out it was in fact rubber domes. I'll keep an eye out for a AT101 or AT102.

Just wondering, whats your budget on the keyboard? And whats your budget on other things? Also what are you searching for in a mechanical keyboard, I mean by all means get one, but if you gave me specifics such as if you want it to be tactile or linear (etc), I could find you a better board withing your price range.

P.S: I'm currently typing on a Dell AT102.

Hey there, sorry about not replying. New to this forum.
My budget on the headphones is roughly 80-100 NZD. Im most likely going to go with the Superlux HD668B headphones unless you can persuade me (Im not going to get a dedicated soundcard).

At the moment I have the IME 3.0 X80 (B75-00116 is the south-east asia model). I don't think if I tracked down an X08 model it would be worth upgrading. Whats your thoughts?

I have already purchased the Artisan Hayate (Japan Violet?) and it should be shipped here within 1-2 weeks. Whats your thoughts on this? and would there have been much difference in IME tracking on the Japan black vs Japan violet?

Last but not least leaves the keyboard. To be honest the only reason why I would have wanted a mechanical is just to go with the crowd and because I like to buy quality items which last the test of time. After finding out how much noise mechanical keyboards make I don't think I can go with that option anymore (unless you can get quiet mech boards?)
So the next best thing would be a cheap keyboard which has the same capabilities as the Logitech G15. I have the G15 and it has been fine for my needs, I don't need nor use any flashy buttons/displays. I just want a keyboard that has the lowest possible amount of input lag and can handle enough keys pressed to play fps games. I do like the wrist rest with the G15 though.
Sorry for the long post there's just so much knowledge on here. Ive already read through 25+ pages of the hardware forum and have learnt so much.

Hi,

there are different models of IME3.0
In 2001 the X06 was released, in 2002 the X08. X80 is the most recent model of the IME3.0 (started around 2005 i think).
The old models are MUCH better quality than the X80 model.
They have better build quality (X80 has rattling side buttons) and have much better clickers. The X80 has chinese omron clickers, the older models have japanese omron clickers which have "darker" clicksound and dont break that fast.

Hi there, yes I have the X80 model (B75-00116 is the south-east asia model) I could tell the build quality was crap so I went straight ahead and made some fixes. The side button rattling is completely gone, I added 2 spring systems for the side button so it has more feedback.
I fixed the pcb down so it doesn't rattle. Done the obvious mod to the scroll wheel and im thinking about dipping the shell in acetone to remove the paint so it doesn't make my hands as sweaty.
Pretty guttered about the Chinese omron switches in this compared to the original Japanese ones (everyone knows Japan has the best quality haha)
I still don't like the side button design, when I had used a g9 I much rather preferred that design.
Finding a X08 model must be a hard job right?

Yeah, they are pretty rare and expensive nowadays.
But i still have one in pretty new condition (except one scratch). :)

The black 3.0 shown on MS' site is just a rendering for the respawn model iirc.

-The scroll wheels feels and has the same flaws.
-The DPI thing is a cluster fuck since some claim newer models have over 400 DPI. I don't know why anyone really cares about a mouse having slightly more or less DPI, but I've tested a couple x08 and FK models and they both track the same cm/360. Maybe there are certain mice that track more/less distance. I don't know.
-x08's had both Omron Japan D2F-01F and D2FC-7-7N's after mid 2005. All omrons with the same actuation point feel similar to me tho.
- The glossy x08 models tend to feel the best in terms of build. 2001 x06 had hazardous materials or some shit.

In terms of build. I'd rank x08>x06>Legends FK>FK.

Or maybe swap the x06 with the Legends FK . it's been awhile ;)

old one from 2002 have shit wheel, mine x80 have better. opened mouse, added 3 layers tape on side buttons, so they works better now and removed around 20g usefull plastic inside, it's weight now like WMO. Dunno about click switches, didn't used 2002 ie3 much... worse problem about new ie3, shit pait, it's removes in 1 year, where you hold/press mouse.

Hey Guard, where abouts did you remove the plastic from the IME 3.0? And also could you explain how thickening the two side button prongs which push the omron switches down with tape helps?

I've had many IME 3.0s, and right now I'm on my second "legends edition" 3.0 (the white ones) and I have to say, they're much better build quality, better scroll, side buttons, etc. I did still swap out the feet for some hyperglides though.

I have a set of Puretraks Perfect Glide HDs for use when I get a pad. What do you think of them compared to hyperglides? So far ive heard hyperglides are superior.

I haven't tried those, but I swear by my hyperglides. It's really a whole different experience, but I love the control. It takes some getting used to if you're accustomed to friction, 'cause these truly glide. I use them with a SteelSeries Qck Heavy

So I decided to get the Hayate.
Still not sure if I should go for the ATH-AD700's or the Superlux HD668B's
For the keyboard Im thinking possibly a Cooler master quickfire rapid mech keyboard. Supposedly its very similar to the filco tenkeyless any thoughts on this?
Last but not least I think I will stay with my new IME 3.0, its not that bad. I am going to use Puretrak HD feet how do these stack up against hyper glides?

Hey guys I just missed an auction for an IME 3.0 X08 model for 4$ ....
Pretty pissed. I am wanting to know the main differences between the X08 model and the latest ones. I understand in the X08 model the side buttons feel more solid. How exactly is this? Can someone share pics from their X08?
I also know the X08 model has Japanese omron switches compared to the newer ones with chinese switches, how do these compare? would the japanese switches have less lag?
What are the other differences between these two models?
If someone could post pics that would be awesome.
