lol on a tangent that new false start rule is pretty fucking stupid. will be very difficult for someone to try and meet let alone break 9.58 with the added pressure of no false starts allowed.

Is it better that everyone will try a false start and the one that gets lucky wins?

The new rule enforces that everyone will wait for the shot and the fastest wins. Usain couldn't handle the pressure this time, hopefully he learns something.

I say its a PR stunt. No one in the world doubts that he would have won the race and that he still is the fastest man in the world.
Another Medal would have been nothing more than a sidenote in this World Cup.
Now everyone is just talking about Usain Bolts false start. (:

not that i follow track and field a lot, but i have never seen a case where 'everyone will try a false start and the one that gets lucky wins'.

there are so many factors that could cause reactions premature to the shot firing. some twat might be shouting in the background or the sprinters may be distracted by cameras sometimes (that's what the commentators of this event implied anyway).

it's not as black and white as 'just trying to get lucky'. the amount of focus required is ridiculous and it's a very human reaction to start even at the slightest noise, even if it was just imagined. a sufficient punishment was already in place for this by giving sprinters one more chance.
