dubstep is absolutely awful. alright, that's probably not true; I'm not big on genres in the first. I listen to music of all sorts of genres so long as it strikes my fancy. not to say I'm not a pretentious shitbag, though. hence my "post rock" habits.

while we're mindlessly posting videos of mostly music (and sometimes also video), and feeling entirely excluded, I feel it's my turn to shit all over this website with a few of some of my most liked post rock songs:

in some songs i hear warm melodic gitarres that reminds me of Pavement. funny thing is, first time i hear a mogwai song and know it, a very hyped band. tortoise is very nerdy music, i think its music for musicans (appriciation need kind of musical knowledge). i want to check out god is an astronaut. what i miss in general is vocals, but my thing is, im not liking every voice.

in my punkdays we did mixtapes, maybe you can do a mp3 sampler? if its not much work.

I don't think I'd be very good at that. God is an Astronaut is actually one of the larger post rock bands I like the least. they seem to exemplify the gimmicks of the genre, or something. there's a bit of post rock with vocals, but not that many. it's just not very fitting with the image, I guess. I'm ok with vocals, but only when they're really necessary or add something. I don't like vocals for the sake of vocals.

I'm not a musician or trained in music and Tortoise is awesome, btw. it just takes listening to, and drugs certainly help.. but once you find the intent of an otherwise seemingly bland piece of music, you really appreciate the connection because it took some effort.

i have often seen this mentioned on the postrock sites. what is so rocky about it? is it just a clever PR of him to get on a train called post-rock, i guess you like arvo part then, cause he's the other that is on a train he barely belongs to.

I don't know. some of this stuff is more ambient than "post rock," but it's a bit muddy. I've listened to a little Arvo Part and I quite like that, yes.

It kinda bores me lately. I have this post-rock periods where I listen to it almost exclusively for weeks, and then the period of complete absence from the genre appears.

Still, it's probably one of my favourite genres, I remember that I've gotten into it when I first heard some mogwai tracks, that was apparently around 2005. I've been slowly but efficiently expanding my post-rock
bandlist since then.

Also, ~~some~~ most post-rock shows I visited were astonishing.

yea, well I listen to a variety of stuff, though admittedly post- and math- rock are dominant in my library. I actually prefer mathy stuff overall. some of my favorites: giraffes? giraffes!, battles, volta do mar, auto! automatic!!, rumah sakit, you slut!, ahleuchatistas, and so on

I tried to master a "Jamerio" few months ago myself. Think it passed off after i applied the paragraphs and the wrongly placed apostrophe's, followed by a smiley face instead of a full stop :)

As a former post-rock buff, I gotta say: Stoner rock wins every time. I still listen to post rock, but stoner rock has now become the genre I have to listen to at least 2-3 albums a week of.

What's the deal with post-rock and emocore bands and their need to write all the lyrics on their band names and song titles? The song title doesn't need to be

instead it can be just
