it's not about the fact that he's a famous esports figure of some sorts. the point is that he's kind of a douchebag claiming to be greatest man to have ever touched quake, while a lot of people on this site know better.

besides that he was always super awkward to have as "our" esports representative, in comparison to how well-spoken and articulate our other "options" (see: the makaveli cnn interview for example, see the various czm ones) could have been.

tl;dr: the guy made his money by claiming to be the greatest fps player ever, while the genre simultaneously more or less died over the years; people are still annoyed at him.

Yes. (the guy was virtually unbeatable at the start beating many established old school pros. even when he came back a year or so later he owned Zero 4 on dm6 to win WCG place or something)

Yes he was and was 50/50 to win so it was no fluke.

Was he or was he not in the finals of the last biggest Quake4 event and beat the 'unbeatable' toxic in one set?
Yes he was.

There isn't one. Yeah, he talks up a lot of insignificant victories like they meant something, but even if you strip those away, he's still the most successful FPS player based on what he did with those 3 games alone.

in his newer interviews i haven't heard him saying he's is the best ever. he is just presenting the straight facts, maybe with some trolling on the quake community, but all he gets back is a retroll-thread like this with zero content. i would laugh at esr either. maka and czm were no option to listen, cause they got beaten up by him.

besides that technically happened a lot, we are talking about gaming, where the more time you put into, the better you get. just waiting for a guy to come that's gifted and dedicated a long time like 10years of his precious life to play games 24/7 is maybe not the best way to consider him the best. fat did it right to not stick with only one game, i guess he just is a competition freak and he hit the nail with winning all these titles.

not participating now is just a wise decision to keep his rep, cause he just can't catch up timewise, so he instead is still maintaining his business

i'm not too bothered by him as a player. my main point was that he was (and still is) a poor representative for "our" scene, a representative that mainly cared about his own pocket money and not what happens to the scene he grew up in.

i think that's both a shame from a personal perspective and something that hurt fps gaming in the long run.
