Russian TDM-Team for Dreamhack announced (143 comments)

Event: DHS'11

Today the lineup for a Russian team going to compete in the TDM tournament at DreamHack Summer 2011 was announced on Cooller's homepage.

Cooller is going to be competing along the lines of

Jibo,

mikes and ~~frozen~~

evil. Furthermore Cooller reports on his website that all players are taking the tournament very seriously and plan on preparing for it intensively.

The Russians are the third team to announce their participation in the DreamHack TDM tournament following

Rage (bab, Juvenile, s7ry, vium, zeroql) and

SRS (avek, wEst, v3rbalizah, zik).

Update: Frozen was replaced with Evil

TDM aim is actually easier than ca aim. In tdm you have people that sometimes aren't paying attention to you, so u can rail them safely, even if they see u from far they cant rj away to safety, so u can hit them.

Catching people out with lg in tdm is easier since most people aren't stacked, so it kills faster.

I suspect gopher is going around with rail only and/or using lg vs rockets to improve his dodging and that sort.

I disagree with that. In CA people are not paying attention to other more frequently, it's very common situation when someone rocket jumps to attack some area and gets raped with LG from behind or other direction. It's very easy to hit high accuracy on flying enemies because they are very predictable.

That's wrong as well, like I said it's easy to hit LG vs player in the air while it's harder to shot dodging one. How could your aim depend on your enemies stack? That is bs, even if so then you will have more % of acc when you take longer fights because after every kill there is so time gap when you realize opponent's death and hit 0% during that period.

Look at stats of CA players, they waste a lot of RL shots just to move what decrease they acc and most of top team players are still > 30.

I only look at hitscan acc. Lg and rail. in ca i try to take out 200/100 rl players with my lg alone to help build my acc and dodging.

That's what i meant. I don't look at overall acc% since its a spammy mode.

(catching ppl with 200/100 to lg them takes longer than in tdm since ppl arent stacked in tdm)

Ca players should have high acc for hitscan so it can transfer over to tdm.

Gopher has 44 rail acc and 29 lg in ca. Meaning his aim is too shitty to play tdm right now, since it will be even lower in tdm.

Duel takes years to learn, let alone master. TDM, in the end, is collecting armors, running around a map, acquiring power ups, and then killing people. Throw in some cute strategies. There's not a level of complexity that cannot be learned by a top level player in a few months of practice.

You think that Jibo and mikes are going to learn this and czm can't?

doesn't seem like you ever played or watched serious TDM? It's much deeper than duel in complexity and doesn't depend on any one individual player, but on all 4 players acting in unison to execute strategies while specializing on certain aspects of the melee. every 'star dueler' line up I've seen has always gotten mercilessly slaughtered before reaching semi-finals by mediocre but real teams who've been played together for a long time.

Despite the rampant denials of TDM-lovers, it's true. CTF requires more coordination to be successful, and duel trumps both of the other modes in the brain-game needed.

TDM is not advanced enough in its current state in Quake Live where strategy trumps the 50% LG that toxjq hits.

Nice to see mikes back, but lot of the oldies cant live up to todays skilllevel after being away.They have gotten far behind. But then again, if they play enough they can make up for it.
