I played with them on Dreamhack.(I actually don't know anyone who owns one :x) I did not like them that much. I prefer the Samsung 2333z. However, as I only had the chance to try them out (both the samsung and the benq) for a couple of hours you might maybe find people that have more experience with it. I still use a CRT.

It is not bad but I think the Samsung is slightly cheaper.

BenQ is $450+ while the 2233RZ is only around $300 now.

Either wait until the 3rd generation of 120hz monitors coming 2nd-3rd quarter this year or just get the 2233RZ now if you're too impatient. It's still the best 120hz monitor out at the moment.

if you have to decide between one it comes down to this:

- money
- format and size

so.. it doesnt worth it.

I prefer the LG W2363D infront of the BenQ and the Samsung 2233rz.
16:9 and fullHD is where we are at when it comes to newer games. In the older ones like Quakelive you can choose to play at any resolution @ 120hz and change the scaling from the OSD, to have bars on the side(or fullscreen ofc) if you don't like the native resolution. The blacklight bleeding on the old Samsung 2233rz panel is pretty bad. On the LG panel there is often just a very thin and slim line of blacklight bleeding like 2mm thick in the bottom and nothing else. There hasen't been any reports on flickering pixels on the newer 120hz TN panels aswell meanwhile Samsung 2233rz has alot of reports where it has flickering on lower resolutions.

The input delay has alot to do with the RTC(overdrive) funktion correctly tweaked for the panels. The Samsung was the first 120hz TN panel and therefor known to have RTC artifacts and some minor negative ghosting shadows that can be seen on some screens. This is not the case for the newer models. On the LG when throu mode is enabled you can't see any negative side effects with your eyes. Just an extrem sharpness on text perheps as a side effect. To sum up my oppinion on it: Samsung is an outdated cheap 120hz screen that fits well for gamers who just want to play @ 120hz in Quakelive. But if you want more then that then for like 40euros more you can get the LG FullHD panel that has a betther tweaks and functions to get more out of it. HDMI for example perfect for consoles like PS3 and Xbox 360.

sounds like the general concensus on 120hz screens is.... drumroll... theyre all SHIT unless u want gaming performance, and then u can just stick to a crt anyway. i fckn hate how the monitor world is sticking to flatscreens that are so utter shit :x

There was one 120hz IPS panel this year I think (or end of last year not sure) but it's ridiculously expensive (think it was like 1000€) if they can make more of that kind of monitor it should be good (OLEDs are not ready yet it seems).

It's far better than TN panels (proper 8bit colours, decent viewing angles, even brightness across the screen etc...) so we should keep an eye on them (TN panels are never going to be any better, it's just a poor, cheap technology)

yeah but, will IPS ever be as quick or extremely close to the speed of a CRT monitor? thats the reason 120hz panels are TN. still the many flaws TN 120hz panels have are no excuses, they just seem to be made by amateurs, wish some brands got their shit together and create smt awesome regardless of price.

I don't think so, but they should be the same as TN panels as far as speed is concerned (most 6ms IPS behave like 2ms TN these days) while not suffering from the other problems.

CRTs will probably remain ahead in terms of raw performance before OLEDs hit the mainstream market (if they ever do), but it might be a decent alternative in the meanwhile.
