Try Metro 2033, but I think you cant play it in higher resolutions if you dont have a good machine. Check the specs before buying. I am playing it right now and love the atmosphere. If you enjoy scary games I would recommend Amnesia. You can get both games at steam for about 15-20 euros.

Man I hate these videos on YouTube. There is another one from an asshole called TotalBiscuit. 33min of pain, no sense of direction, questioning every single thing in the game and shitting his pants at every sound, and we dont get to see 1 monster. Put all of that just to get to level 2 or 3.

He wasn't impressed when I told him the speed run of that game is exactly the same length as his shit video (33min and 36sec.)

It's not about being challenging, the game strives to provide an immersive gameplay combined with survival and puzzle elements. The later being rather simple.

It's easily one of the most atmospheric and unique games i've ever played...definitely try the demo atleast.

Mostly depends on how high you want your resolution to be. You'd be surprised at what that PC can run at 800*600.

Odd. I upgraded a few weeks ago from a C2D 6400 and a 8600GTS and I never had any problems getting games to run at an acceptable FPS. I did have to compromise heavily on graphics quality and resolution, though.

Will it require a save for sure, did you read it somewhere? I heard that DA2 won't feature any of the old characters and old settings. But I avoid getting info on the game so that it wouldn't be spoiled in some way, like by knowing which companions you're going to have.

It won't require a save, and you won't continue with your character. DA2 is set a few years after DA. your save import will only influence things indirectly.

So it's not a massive deal, missing out on DA1.

i played it through once, as elf mage. want to play it again as rogue. Warrior seems boring.

warrior is awesome. i played dual wield first cause i liked that style in baldurs gate, and sword and shield just to finish a typical story once, and unlock as much of those achievements as i could. sword and shield warrior is the most powerful by far, especially with the spirit warrior at in the expansion pack. like 150 base dmg, near 1000 health with runes.

i kinda dislike the mage idea, dunno. i finished bg 1 i 2 combined 20 times in total, never with a mage :)))


Edit: rogue is pretty much invincible with the legionnaire scout class. i used to kill a dragon by myself with the rogue. its crazy.

You finished BG? I respect that. It's way too difficult for me, and I was so tired of having to avoid sitiations for which my characters weren't up to yet. Even robbing Algernon of his cloak with its unlimited Charm spells didn't help with some of them, although it made some impossible fights possible thanx to that spell. And my pet peeve is resting, unlike in other RPGs you have to rest in an inn if you want full health, it requires travelling back all the time after basically each fight.

People compare BG to DAO and say that both games require tactics to play through, but I played DAO at Nightmare and it was pretty easy, whereas I can't play BG at all. :(

after 20 reruns of a rpg game (who plays a fucking rpg game 20 times?) you're still not tired of stupid point and click sword shit. you got issues.

the approach is totally different with sword and shield style than with dual wield, if you have a tank, you don't need another tank, the party is different, the strategy is different, and it's not like baldurs gate, the choices are multiple, the game becomes different.

tried replaying it once and with a different race/class and got bored superfast. everything's the same and choices dont make much difference in the long run.

if dragon age is linear, then baldurs gate is a straight line.

so what exactly is the point of replaying that?

Different characters, different company, so many races to choose from, so many classes to choose from, so many different items, allingments, ...

Baldur's gate is simply a perfect game.

Nowadays i can't even think of installing it again, original or sequel, cause i literally know it step by step, but when i was ~15 i was mad about it.

sure but with DA you get to play with all character types anyway, so I see no point in replaying just to have a different main. the only rpg I can think of that was fun to replay was morrowind.

in DA, you desperately need a tank, and you must choose between offensive mage (morrigan) and defensive mage (wynne), if you already locked 2 companions besides you. the game difficulty it's just much more different with lets say 2x sword and shield, 1 mage and 1 thief than with a rogue, tank, and 2 mages. 90% of fights require a totally different strategy.

in the last replay i killed wynne just to get the opposite achievement in the mage tower, and afterwards wasn't able to kill flemeth, cause morrigan gives you the quest, but won't come with you, and you can't kill a dragon without a healer.

just 1 different party member changes so many things. that's why it's replayable, but not 10 times, 3 is more than enough. and first time was without the expansion pack so the 2nd and 3rd actually were different.

the fact that the fastest way to kill crowds is 2 mages + tank + whatever doesn't help much. sure there are many different strats with rogues and shit but the fastest is usually just send tank in to attract horde, then spam splash with mages.

also morrowind is replayable because you get to play 1 char only and if you stay true to the char you'll finish maybe 30% of all quests tops.

yeah but there is only 1 offensive mage in DA:O, and that's morrigan. wynne is a healer and doesn't have pretty much anything offensive till you lvl her up a lot, and that's at the cost of the better healing/defensive spells.

i say 2x sword and shield (6 stuns in total = nothing stands a chance) + morrigan with basic heal + leliana with marjolaine's recurve bow is the best combination.

even revenants are pretty much effortless with this combination cause 1 tank is always in his face while the other is healing + the archer is hitting him.

finished the game with 2 tanks + wynne and morringan spamming fireballs and storm (not so hard to level) and that was pretty much it.

well you finished the game with that, but you needed like 7 or 8 levels of wynne leveling up exclusively the offensive fire/lightning stuff.

so it's 6 levels minimum without the inferno, leaving her on her basic healing.

healing spells are useless anyway + you can spawn as many potions as you like, not to mention infinite money.

infinite money is beyond gay i never did that.

when someone is sitting on your chest and eating your face, and that happens a lot if you don't have a lot of phys resist, you can't really drink a potion of healing though.

fallout new vegas is really really really good.

If you are not going to play it due to some bugs (which really didn't bother me at all) it's your loss.

i finished fallout 3 in january. i installed it in late november.

i got kicked to windows ~195 times, game froze another ~150 times.


from what i've heard, new vegas is pretty much the same, so i'm gonna stay away from it.

New Vegas isn't buggy like FO3 (there are a select few, but nothing major), and is really worth it if you liked FO3 at all. Additionally, it's the same engine as FO3, so you can expect the same performance.

There are a few random errors with nightmare fuel models, but happen extremely rarely. The dog eyes bug is still in, but you can't even really notice it unless you really look for it. I've only crashed about 2-3 times total (played through the game about 8 times now) but they were before the patch, and likely mod-related.

New Vegas is fairly polished, but really only because it's working on the polished engine of FO3.

I watched parts of a playtrough on youtube. The atmosphere, graphics etc are nice yes, but what so good about it?

Gameplay wise it doesn't seem any more advanced as doom 3, (or 2 or 1 even). Are there any puzzles or something to break up to monotonous action?

played Dead Space and didn't find it too special - 2 levels seemed nice and the weapons and upgrading system is ok - but nowhere near "great"

same with Dragon Age - started out nice and for me was totally useless after doing the same fights over and over again - the old humor was mostly gone and I quit after getting some of the best armors and stuff - you might be better off with Mass Effect - I don't care too much for Bioware rpgs anymore ..

Finally completed Planescape:Torment recently. One of the best RPGs I played! Really recommened if you dont mind older graphics, but it has maybe the best storyline ever in a game. Also doesnt look too bad with widescreen mod. You can get it cheaply at gog.com.

Next RPG for me will be Vampires Bloodlines. Only heard good things about it and it should be playable with all the fanmade patches that came out over the last years.

Also finished Eric the Unready the last days, very very funny but really vintage gaming :)
