Wow, I'm the complete opposite, I have too many games to play. Super meat boy is really fun, I need to get the full version. I still need to play assassins creed II and bayonetta, batman arkham city is coming out next year, and portal 2. And half-life 3 (or episode 3 who knows) is hiding out there somewhere.

If you are referring specifically to multiplayer games, I've been playing a lot of l4d. Pretty awesome.

They are taking very long to make episode 3, I get the feeling that it's going to be a full game, the same length as HL2. Since the episode model isn't really working, they might just skip episode 3 and release "Half-life 3".

I must say your expectations are a bit unrealistic though. I have played many games that were a ton of fun that had none of the above. Because ultimately what makes a game enjoyable is the gameplay, whether something is a sequel/original/has a good story etc. is all pretty irrelevant.

They are not expectations, they are sieves. I just feel deprived and cheated when descriptions can settle for "entertaining", "enjoyable" or "fun" to capture the experience.

The context here is trying to find new game-experiences. DDR or Quake or SC can be like eating an apple. Trying to recapture other kinds of game-experience by lapses into nostalgia are never rewarding.

hm, you say braid has an uplifting setting, isn't it more an uplifting gameplay regarding your last sentence? for me it was more an overall feelgood punch in the face with some depressing nuances where the gameplay and design served and blended the inventive story core and vice versa

If you're not into the mass effect brand of "military emoism in space", you probably aren't impressed by the sequel either. The story is fairly simplistic - threat/conflict - gather a bunch of people to solve it - fight - end.

I personally love the series, me1 and 2 are masterpieces of modern gaming.

dont seem to have the motivation to play many games anymore, just bought gran turismo 5 last week but so far ive only played about 2 hours of it and im a massive gran turismo fan and have been eagerly awaiting it since buying my ps3.

only games im really looking forward to at the moment is Rage and Doom 4. oh and a proper touge (battle gear/kaido battle) type game on any platform. i might buy killzone 3 as well as kz2 was really good. and Deadspace 2 as the first is amazing.

games id like to see would be another sequel to syndicate and cannon fodder! having said that the Speedball 'update' on xbla was horrible and the new alien breed is nowhere near as good as the originals.

just seem to have more enjoyment going back and playing games on emulators, thousands of games with many ive never played over various platforms.

i have wangan midnight on the ps3 and psp which i love, didnt bother to import initial d for ps3 as it looks a bit crap and nowhere near as good as the arcade one. i may be wrong of course as ive not played it. i do have initial d on the psp but it fealt a bit floaty. when i owned a ps2 i had kaido battle which i thought was rather good, wish id not sold the ps2 just for this game to be honest.

which ones do you own/play? i noticed gt5 is trying to get a bit of a foot in the wangan with some of the tracks which are just long highway point to point tracks.

The last one I actually owned was GT4 (which I've done everything, including the 24 hour nurburgring race). I play Initial D AS4/Maximum Tune 3 at the arcade. It's really difficult to play in my area, though, as there are always godly asians at the machines. Kinda hurts the pride to lose to some kid in a goddamn levin.

It is, but you don't have to do it all in real time. You can use B-Spec, which lets you coach a CPU driver (which you can let drive even without coaching and he'll do well enough). During B-Spec, you can increase the speed of time. Even if you did the entire race in B-Spec, it would still probably take about 12 hours, though. =P

edit: oh, you can switch between driving and b-spec at any time during the race, too.

That's an interesting topic for me. I rarely played any games since like 2005 or 2006. However, I promised myself to upgrade my PC when DX3 will come out, since DX1 was my favourite game of all time.

The only other titles I anticipate are The Witcher 2 and Portal 2, only because I enjoyed the original games. But I'll look into your recommendations (Brink and Braid look promising) since it would be a bummer to spend cash on the PC upgrade and use it only for one game, which probably won't be nearly as mind blowing as DX1.

maybe the new Silent Hill additionally to the few good ones mentioned here, but I'm not really looking forward to trash like Bioshock X and Dead Space x,

I guess I will get myself Duke Nukem 4 ever and Rage when they come out ... it's somewhat cool to have a console that is built in 2005 and you still can play with it the actual games from 2011 :-)

I have also seen there is a new Donkey Kong Country, it is also said to be good, but that game just looks like the SNES versions with somewhat improved graphics (but Donkey Kong Country when it was released was a groundbreaking graphics experience on the SNES, the Wii version just looks meh compared to actual games) and gameplaywise I don't see any improvements ... could as well play DKC 2 or 3 on my SNES emulator ...
