Tottenham have to be very careful atm, if they don't start cleaning up at home in England they won't be back in Europe next year. This is further compounded by the fact that, as with last season, a typically middle of the table team is turning heads - Bolton.

Bale has quick pace (not the quickest tho), monster-like stamina (fuck he can sprint in the 90th minute), nice crossings.

Well maybe, but it really all depends on what the criteria for being a top player is. Like for instance how many top/world class players are there in the world. How many can compare to Messi today ? Only a handful I reckon, two are three maybe.

But speaking strictly Bale though he would get into any side in the world today. Before the Inter game Lucio and Maicon were considered the best defenders in the world, Bale turned them both inside out repeatadly. If Bales not a top player he is certainly not far from reaching that plateau.

Well the Inter game I would say it's more Benitez's fault (LOL). He knows Bale is fast (in first leg Bale already showed that), but he still used high defensive line, and didn't ask players to help Maicon. Bale got tons of 1 on 1 chances agaisnt Maicon, and had 40 meters of space for him to run. Maicon is extremely poor, he lost every 1 on 1 agaisnt Bale, but when Lucio was there, he tackled Bale (like 3 out of 4 tackles successful iirc).

Bale is a big threat but still not yet undefendable. If you remember the game Spurs vs Everton, Everton put 1-2 players to assist Jagielka (who isn't anywhere near a good player, just normal) when Bale was trying to break through. Bale wasn't doing much in the game. Bale's task is basically still quite simple - breaking the line and cross. If he wants to become a top player, he needs to be more multi-functional, more flexible, read the game better, have better vision. Generally, he need a better coach, Redknapp won't do.

Well maybe, they did try though. Zanetti was a lot more involved with Bale, Maicon was always on him and when that wasnt enough Lucio then had to do something. Before this tie Maicon was considered the best RB in the world.. Even though he isnt as good defending as he is going forward, Inters defence was still considered the best in the world though and got ripped apart.

A game like against Everton has a completely different dimension to a team against Inter. Top teams actually try to play football, Everton plays a lot more to the negative aspect of the game and focus a lot more on breaking down their opponents play. Then when you have Webb reffing and completely unwilling to card for ferocious tackles it makes things tougher. I have no idea how Spurs managed to get yellow carded thrice the amount of Everton. But the refs in the EPL are a bit different to those in Europe I suppose..

But mate you need to know that Mourinho built the Inter team, he always first try to break down the opponent first. He put plenty of slow but disiplined and tireless players in his team, which basically suits a deep denfense line and counter style of playing. Benitez (LOL) tried to change the team play but apparently isn't very successful. The Inter team now is nowhere near it was last season, on defending. I really would consider Bale's performance against Inter were exceptions. In a wider prospect (i.e. the 14 games in EPL), Bale played well but not that kind of performance...

Also, top team try to play football, and playing football including breaking down opponent's attack. I like defensive football and attacking football equally. Defending is also a beauty.
