Is there any site like hltv.org which shows the IP's for upcoming matches etc?

Always been interested in getting into the TF2 scene but looking in from the outside it looks dead (even though it's obviously not) since it's hard to find where sourceTV ips are

edit: ok noticed that vanillatf2 kinda has it but man do these sites have such a crappy layout compared to hltv ¬¬

its fan made, so they just try to do what they can, usually they give stv for all important matches of div1 teams or cups :)

vanilla is good at keeping track of thing before matches.

PS: Its obviously not dead since there are more than 300 teams that signed up for season 7

twingalaxies (TG) is the one from the king of kong movie (walter day, etc etc). Only accepts video footage from playing the actual game on a real console or arcade, besides MAME emulation.

MARP also collects scores but only from MAME. It has better scores than TG's MAME scoreboard (equal if the score was submitted to both websites) since MARP started gathering that data before than TG, it's way easier to submit (website related and ingame rules/emulators) and it's prefered by some japanese groups (can't beat them).
HARP is the same, but for all other emulators.

classicarcadegaming is mostly a forum dedicated to ...classic arcade gaming. It is not a scoreboard. I listed it because it's the only active one I know besides TG's forum.

TASvideos is an archive of that type of speedruns and other feats. It has the best possible times, scores, etc., but they are not official at TG due that there's computer assist involved (running the game slower, save states, etc) and also it accepts all kinds of bugs.
It's not cheated...but TASed.

in the end there are scores that are not listed at any of these sites. I recall a marble madness arcade score I saw on youtube.

There's actually no point in looking at the records from twingalaxies for most games ( 99%) : they get raped hard by people on forums and have been raped, killed and raped again 15 years ago by japanese players in the arcades. And you can find those....on forums too. And vids of really big scores are pretty easy to find....on forums. Cause the arcade community is actually a cool one when you get rid of the mvc2/sf4 retards.

I said that as well (last line). No problem on that point.

If I were to do a score (I have one at TG, made it this year) I'd look first at TASvideos because that's the best it gets, and also they have submission notes and guides. If there's nothing there then I'd go to MARP (where those japanese players go to) because they have some sick records there, and finally look at youtube and others.

I won't go with checking forums first because the other way is easier, and also without worries about in-game rules (dip switches, internal config, etc) and others (there're lots and lots of issues, and that's one reason why those scores are not at TG and even at the very popular MARP).

Hard to record a vid when most pre-jamma pcb die faster than kids in ethiopia and costi a ton of money.

There are dedicated servers for BO which is great,but treyarch badly optimised it for the pc,as it only utilises 1gb of ram which makes it pretty much a console port so to speak,they're working on the problem but it shouldnt have been a problem in a first place.
I haven't really played public s&d because its mainly filled with spastic campers,but with other gametypes like domination,headquarters and ctf,the maps seem fun and pretty balanced.

yeah they're improving,getting 100-125fps now,rather than 70-120 and thats with aa 4x + default config (low textures though) but it still needs improvement

www.giantbomb.com is 1000 times better for orginal content and opinions. Not so good for general news though. Been trying to find a replacement for kotaku in my RSS feed because they spam too much irrelavant cosplay/cake bs.

I definitely recommend the whiskey media network of sites for movies/comics/games/tech.

how about doing these 4 categories:
a) speed runs, which includes SDA and TAS (still can't recall the other website)
b) scoreboard, with TG, MARP, etc
c) classic arcade, including TG, classicarcadegaming, other major communities about arcade game restoration, funspot, videogame hall of game,
d) recent arcade games and arcade sticks. This is to draw a line between fightning games, but maybe it isn't necessary since those are really the important ones nowadays

I'm not an expert but I think GG.net is a major SC community site. I have visited it for years. It's more newb-friendly (navigation etc.) than TL.net which is more for hardcore community.

Func_Msgboard: http://www.celephais.net/board/view_all_news.php - the biggest mapping hub/community site i know of. it was focused mostly on Quake1 SP in the past, but many games are covered now (rest of Quakes, Doom3, HL1&2 etc.)

also the site has speed mapping sessions with various themes and it's very nice to see multiple aproaches to a given subject (especially with the most excentric of themes).

i used to be obsessed with collecting Quake1 maps.. and since it is one of the greatest games and engines ever, there are still lots of mappers doing hobby work with this game.
mapping for Quake1 has a certain charm, it has the right amount of complexity without being fundamentally outdated, but also not chasing nostalgia away. the maps are focused on architecture and teaching the old dog new tricks with the simple, yet elegant scripting system. also it has very good mapping tools, which also makes it enjoyable.
