Paul the Octopus has spoken!

"Germany's oracle octopus Paul picked Spain to beat the Netherlands in the World Cup final in a live television broadcast watched across Europe".

"The two-year-old celebrity octopus, who has accurately picked the outcome of all six of Germany's World Cup matches so far, quickly tipped Spain to beat the Netherlands".

This is actually kinda cool from Germany.

I actually think they are cheating slightly here, I'm sure there are ways of doing it :P

Not that it's incredible a feat or anything just that it is in the best interests to have the Octopus guess correctly.

yah I agree that there might be some sort of cheat, maybe putthing something on the food that makes it "smell" more attractive or whatever.

Still, even then someone had to guess all matches correctly and make it work !

On the other hand, there are several animals around predicting the results, so that lowers the odds significantly.

I dunno, it's only been doing the Germany games right?

With the exception of Serbia (who I saw lots of people tipping as a dark horse for some reason) Germany had quite predictable results for me :P

I don't think the Argentina game was predictable at all. Yes, Argentina has more weakness, but with those attackers the outcome of the game is absolutely random. Argentina could have perfectly started scoring and end with the opposite result they got. I honestly had no clue of what to expect at that game.

As someone who has seen red 34 come up 3 times in a row, its hard to really get excited about an accurate 50/50 guess 5-6 times in a row :)

Its still funny if you look at it through the eyes of the common man.

For the Sea World that owns the octopus.

They have hundreds of extra visitors per day if not more, all football loonies.

They're selling little octopus "action figures" by the boatload (was on the news here yesterday).

As someone said before, that octopuss always just takes the box on the right, so much that if I were the man making the guesses for the winners, I'd put the favourite to me on the right.

To improve the credibility of this, they'd need to invert the boxes a couple more times and make atleast 2 more tries.
