Yes, there have been cases in the past were referees have been bought, but I believe that is not (or only to a very limited degree) the case in this WC.

I think you simply ignore the possibilty that humans makes mistakes.

You seem to assume that it is possible that a referee and his team get 100% of all decisions right, from wherever they are standing without any technical help.
And if they do make mistakes they will be random and one team gets favored while the other isn't.

I mean look at Germany - England. We were clearly favored by that big mistake, which by your theory would mean we bought the referee. But it would also mean we "forgot" to buy the referee in the game vs. Serbia, cause I think a referee could have gotten away with not giving the second booking and sending one of our players off.


What can have an influence, however, is the presonal preferences of referees. Whether they like a player or a team or what not. It will always affect their decisions a little bit through their subconcious. That can not be called a cheat. Having a replay function would probably solve that though.

When the mistakes favor clearly to one side, not only on one match but inter matches, you have to be extra naive to believe there is nothing behind :)

That depends on whether
a) it can be explained by reputation of countries that affect teh subconscience of the referee
b) if the statistic variations are within a reasonable confidence interval

and most importantly

c) the analysis of the referees is not done by a fan of the discussed team (surprisingly enough they seem to be rather biased.)



Since I think it's safe to say that you checked none of the above (and there are probalby more points to check), it might be a bit soon to use the word naive.

Sore losers have been blaming referees since the very first time a referee put his mouth to a whistle.
Mistakes happen, your team didn't score enough goals, get over it.

They aren't honest nor cheat. They are just VERY BAD. How can you expect a referee from some minor league somewhere in the world to be if the ones at the major leagues are already pretty bad.

But in the end it is a job that is currently insanely difficult, and it is impossible to do it flawlessly all the time.
And the constant whine from all those "fans" will certainly not help, if they really want the best people for the job.

Some of the refereeing in this tournament has been excellent mind you, shame about the high profile mistakes.

I thought the referee who booked Oezil and Khedira(?) for diving had an excellent game (I think it was the Australia game?) and there were some other games that the referees did brilliantly in.

they aren't cheaters. it's just the crap philosophy of FIFA to introduce referees from fucking turkmenistan or papua new guinea for the WC. and that is shit, cause with their background and lack of experience, they can't possibly be able to handle the pressure of being in front of 50k+ people.

Theres truth in your post, but when you say theres no cheat, you really believe with the human species nature and the inane amounts of cash that FIFA manages plus the excesive destructive kind of nationalism of many countries, theres motive and there are facts like tv documented biased errors, its very clear BUT for those that may be "favored", its the other part of the coin. So we accept it as good sheeps. Theyre ruining the spirit of the game.
