Would he consider himself an aggressivly stupid player who relies on 'lucky' hits or is his tactics more calculated? Obviously he knows what he's doing, but after watching his demos I'm getting the feeling someone like Cooller or Rapha will be more persistant, while Cypher could be the best, WHEN he is on fire.

As if he relies on hitting certain shots, and when he doesn't, his initial plan is screwed.

ohh, you should watch his demos more carefully :p cypher isn't half as aggressive as avek for example. instead he relies a whole lot on his superb positioning. he's far less about running around and hitting crazy shots than most people seem to think.

Thanks for your reply, I actually am sitting down analyzing demos ( http://data.fuskbugg.se/skalman01/ztn02.jpg ) properly, watching different players playstyles and try to understand why they do what they do.

But in some cases it just feels like, and I might and probably am wrong, he relies on these shots to hit or else he's an underdog in the situation in hand. But again, I'm the beginner here, I played cypher in the last zotac and I know he's as talented as ESR is full of trolls, not trying to take anything away from him.

honestly I think it all depends on skill, to make the best out of situations that clearly not favoring you. To give you an example, when I am playing someone lower than my skill, I try to get into situations that are not favoring me and see what I can do from there, in some maps like ztn, t9, t4 etc you can go for shots that does not seem logical but if you can dodge a few key rockets/rails then you can unleash an incredible amount of damage on the other guy, I think people who are at the very top have these things in common

1) whenever they see a situation like this they take it if they are sure they will have enough health to escape / item waiting behind to replenish if things dont go according to plan, that slight skill gap they have in say top 5 players and say top 20 comes into play.

2) Another thing that also makes a big difference as I see is that players like rapha, cooller, cypher show a altogether different kind of patience in combat, what I mean is that in a close fight they dont mind holding fire till they can land that perfect 100 damage rocket, most people would fire slightly early resulting in a splash rocket and not getting that unsettling bounce. Also they have this battle sense that even if their lower on health than the other guy, they can dodge long enough to give that decisive blow to the other guy while being on lower hp all this time, these are small things but often makes a huge difference in the crucial situation.

It's helping me analyze to be able to go through it over and over again in my head, and it's easier to write on paper than in notepad when watching on screen.

What I'm mostly trying to gain from demowatching at the moment is angles and positioning, and I will be honest with you, it has been helpful.

Also obvious things like 98% of the times waiting around corners RL is the weapon of choice, while in some tiny cases PG is to prefer, as if you hit a good streak of plasma, it'll equal more damage/second than rockets ever could.

This is just how i approach things in general, I might be overdoing it but it's working for me so why not :)

agree with the pg part. plasma if used correctly is really devastating. yes, watching demos is probably the best way to get good quickly.

keep3r was a good dueler from Belarus and beat Cooller in an ASUS cup. He played CS for SnG.maxigame at the last WCG though so he may no longer be playing quake.

All these lines where is sensitivity 2 are not connected with the real weapon's binds.

Taking the altered pitch, yaw and his 450 mouse dpi into account, his sens on a 400dpi mouse is 4.6 with accel .1. The higher dpi and lower pitch and yaw actually cancel out in the accel, so it stays at .1.

edit: This is assuming his mouse is at 450 dpi like the previous poster said. If it's not then I have no idea.
