mx518 is absolutely the same as mx500@1000hz perfomance wise when there's no setpoint installed, lowest dpi chosen and usb is overclocked

look at counts/s on the left, from there + knowing the speed you can get the dpi(or cpi aka counts per inch), see the dependence? :p
for example take 1m/s which is about 39 inches/s and appropriate 62k counts/s: 61000/39~=1600cpi
and you should have noticed that it's counts/s is also 4 times bigger value at the same speeds than mx500 has(which was tested at 400 dpi)

i think mx310 has the 300 sensor, but the shape is somewhat like a small mx518, and its a bit lighter than the mx300

no, mx310 has the mx510 sensor. you only can overclock it to 450hz, but its a very good sensor; no skipping...

i had 3 mx510 and all of them only got 450hz. i read it online too. but could be that newer mx510/mx310 can get 500hz but it doent matter. anyway it's a good sensor

I can confirm, when you set 500hz it's giving 450.

well my last mouse was the diamondback, and i found its a big difference between 500hz and 1000hz, so thats a big shame as i wont buy me a 310 but will still look for a mx300. had 2 diamondback and both had a broken cord or i would be still playing with them.

only deal i found to get a mx300 is to be shipped from china in a pack with some keyboard for 50eur shipping included. kinda expensive so i will consider my options a bit more.

the big difference between 500 and 1000 on a diamondback is that you get huge sensitivity inconsistencies because that mouse doesn't support 1000 hz (it gives 750 average).

try the korean g1 if you want the mx300 shape, it can be found quite cheap in korea. (especialy for us european since they sell it in dollars)

well i found that 1000hz felt like i was holding the cursor in my hand, while other hzs, felt realy loose...

i want the mx300 realy for its performance, shape is not as important for me except the mx5xx shape wich i find very hard to play with

No, MX310 despite similiar naming scheme to MX510, is using same sensor as MX300. You can see that by the same number of megapixels which in case of MX510 is higher (4.7 as opposed to 5.8), max g, and initial datapath. Also I think it was actualy released before MX510.

Yeah, you're right i think. it wasn't because of the naming i thought that the mx310 has the same sensor as the mx510. it's because a friend of mine told me that it was only giving 450hz like mx510.

Perchaps it was changed overtime, initialy should be same. Someone said something about late 510 having 16bit datapatch, initialy it had 12bit, while MX300 and MX310 had 8bit one I think? It isnt unusual for production of certain sensor to be stopped, usualy a stripped down derivative of newer model takes it place in sensor producer offert.

Not to mention that sensor itself shouldnt completly imply what frequency can be set.

from what I remember 3 years ago when i looked for the sensor names, mx510 and 310 have almost the same sensor, i mean the 310 is a "trussed" version of the 510 sensor, don't know the exact difference tho

silver (korean) g1 does 1000 dpi while the blue does 800. So except a different sensor, but i havent read anybody complaining about it skipping. would be nice if you can feedback on this ;)

The MX518 v1 has roughly the same performance as a mx300 if you set the DPI to 400. Im not able to get negative accel regardless of how quickly i move it.

I was using a mx310 until last year when it died (was at least 5 yrs old). Have been using wmo since and overall I like it, but the mx310@500 was so smooth, I'm looking to get another one (or two).

Does anyone have experience with the 310 at low sens (40-45cm)? When I had it I was using somewhere around 30cm because of small space. Any neg accel issues or things like that?

I dont think a sensor would cause that, probably some other difference in the hardware.
