Would be great in a business environment, but I barely email as it is. All my messages are through third party sites like Facebook or something.

That's why I'm not that excited about it. BUT, it is extremely interesting and is 100x better than regular email.

its a mashup of all email and im clients you've ever known with a user interface ez enough to be made by apple.

it does email, chat, and also the live-chat like ICQ used to be able to do, where you see each letter get put down live.

also it kind of records a replay of the conversation and if you want to forward it to someone new, he can recap the course of the conversation by skimming through the 'replay'

if this thing gets popular tho,and is safe enough, its obviously the way to go(in the future). for both personal and business related things.

its a protocol. sure the "public" wave servers will be ad driven. but the wave protocol itself isn't

Its an all encompassing communication tool. Which combines Email, Instant messaging and recorded collaborative text editing into one method. Then there's also extensions and ro-bots.

Robots, just like extensions, provide a vast of amount of extra functionality. Robots are workers which do background stuff and show you in foreground through the 'wave'. For example they can change every stock symbol into a real time quote or will try to answer questions as customer support agent. Extensions are more visual, they change the appearance or feel of a 'wave', for example, you would use an extension to insert a vote, interactive map or even a game right into the 'wave'. As you can imagine, there's not a lot you can't do with both Robots and Extensions at hand.

There wasn't Twitter support, but somebody created a Twitter robot, so now there is. There wasn't webcam chat, so someone created an extension for that and now there is.

Some features I like:
- UI is simple, clean and adjustable.
- Wiki style. Anyone in the wave can edit anything, even others comments, in any order they like. Obviously playback makes sense of this freedom.
- Playback. So you can play the email or 'wave' like a movie, but step by step.
-Organization of comments. Think something like ESR comment system, except way more advanced.
-Real time chat, you see people type as they type, this is optional, but is fun and saves time.
-Intuitive and well presented attachments, drag and drop anything into the email. A preview shows for everyone, place it wherever you like, have it automatically upload for anyone to view or download in full.
-Embed. Embed your wave into a website or blog, your visitors can watch as you optionally update in real time without even leaving the command center that is Google Wave.
-Open source, lots of new stuff and exciting stuff will be popping up for it.


I love it, its like a common tool from 10 years in the future. Such a great asset for my Business and could well replace email. Could take years though! its a big change and is way more complicated than what people are use too. If it wasn't for such a big name like Google supporting and improving it, it would remain the Quake 3 of software. Regarded as the best by some, but would struggle to go mainstream.
