If you are going out, be sure to go to Golden Hits on Kungsgatan in central Stockholm, I believe it's the most popular bar in Sweden, while the music there may be questionable, it's always filled with happy people.

Ah, I almost forgot. Stockholm also has a Skybar, a 360-view bar on top of a skyscraper. As the city has almost no other skyscraper, due to its old style, the view up there is spectacular, be sure to check it out.

I can't let you get away with calling Golden Hits the most popular bar. Sure, there's shitloads of people but it's a 30+ meat-market with music from days of old. I like the atmosphere of Södermalm more than Östermalm and Stureplan.

Well, to my knowledge there is no bar that is more popular in Stockholm in terms of visitors.

Of course its all a matter of what taste you have but I've always had fun at Golden Hits, which is more than I can say for any other bar except Sunkit.

I think that's a matter of Golden Hits being such a freaking huge place. They can simply take more people. I will however give you that the people there are always very happy and cheerful :)

If you're a nerd like me, the Medeltidsmuseet is pretty cool.

Like someone said before, Stockholm is really at it's best during the summer. Especially when you walk home from a bar in the middle of the night and it's still bright outside, no matter how late it is.

I'd recommend visiting Gamla stan (old town), and if you and your wife are interested in these sort of things, sign up for the stockholm ghost walk. Haven't tried it myself although I'm planning to do so, but I've heard it's pretty cool. You walk around in gamla stan in the night and listen to local ghost stories. You could visit the Royal Palace "Kungliga Slottet". The royal family doesn't actually live there though. They live some kilometres outside the city, in "Drottningholm Slott". It has a lovely baroque garden and could be worth a visit if you're interested.

And use the subway as transportation (stay away from cabs, they are a fucking rip off)
