if you're referring to fox at Dreamhack taking everyone, I've gotta remind you that the best player there wasd a very rusty pod1. Also, the map selection rule-set was dropping maps which worked to Fox's advantage. I think if it was rather each player picks and then drop if it goes to a 3rd map fox would've had a much more difficult time. But again, if players like Vo0, Jonathan, Gellehsak, Vamp1re, a non-rusty Dziku, non-rusty Zoom, and a whole slew of other players would've showed up, you would see a big difference in placements.

Like you said about CPM, you don't have a clue. Fox dropped cpm3a every round because he knew he wouldn't have the same chance if he would've played cpm3a against the CPMers that showed up. He's smart enough of a tournament player to know how to use the ruleset to his advantage (which he did).

From the way you talk about "movement" it sounds like you think movement comes down to being able to do fancy trick jumps on maps (like your comment about cpm3a jumps). That's not what "great" movement is. Like Mash said, doing trick jumps on a map is something anyone can do with a bit of practice. But great movement means moving when conditions aren't ideal (like they are when you are jumping around on a map by yourself or in defrag).

No, I can't say walter has "best movement" but it is still pretty proficient compared to the ones you listed (in terms of speed and controlling that speed).

yeah, "fox (cpm)" pretty much ruined your whole post, anon. While I respect Fox a lot, I don't think he's given the effort or time to CPM movement. I'd say Gellehsak and Vo0 both have great movement for duelers. Hal9000's cpm22 movement is also top-notch. As far as straight up trick/defrag and strafe goes, then probably Lags, W3sp and Mew would be tip-top.

Imo, Walter does have great movement (and I don't know much about vq3 duel/movement), but from what I've seen first hand in defrag of his movement knowledge (qw, cpm and vq3), I would say he does have far above-average movement. He's very capable in all three games from what I've witnessed and I think that kind of versatility is indicative of someone who's put a lot of effort into learning all the different types of movement.

that pretty much makes my post if it takes top3 cpm players to have better movement in CPM than a vq3 player

I have, repeatedly. It doesn't take the best CPM players to have better movement then Fox. I was simply naming people who I think have great CPM movement. You named Fox as having great movement in CPM. He really doesn't. It's standard. He could hardly stair jump on cpm22 before Dreamhack. I don't think that constitutes "great" movement when someone is just learning the RA stair jump...

and I wouldn't call fox a pure vq3er, quite a coincidence he plays in the sweden national team for cpm tdm and hangs out on irc with all the top cpm dogs of sweden? just because most of the vq3 community dislikes cpm doesn't mean that there's not some other openminded players who actually play both gameplays.

as for cpm movement, go play some decent dodgers in 1v1 just to get an idea what the movement can do in infights, compared to vq3. plus, there's lots of trickjumps that can save you a lot of time or help avoid danger zones in cpm (e.g. hub ra jump, 3a mh jump, ...) while in vq3 the pretty much biggest thing is bridge to rail on dm6. cpm allows for a much bigger variety in movement, and puts a lot more importance on movement than vq3. still, you're not winning games by movement alone in cpm.

Tell you what .. even I can do the MH-jump from time to time. it's not a big deal, if you practice hard and long enough.
again: watch some demos of Vo0/vamp1re or all the other top-tier players in cpm to see exceptional cpm-movement.
