Steam wasn't always more expensive than retail? Look at L4D, ridiculous price.

I paid 52,19$ (35,73€) for L4D. Now it costs 44,99€, a 25,92% increase, while places like Play.com sell it for 37,99€.

I like Steam and I don't mind paying about the same as a retail copy, but this is ridiculous.

At least I don't buy many games, so it won't be much of a loss for me, but I'm obviously not buying anything from Steam unless they fix this.

I paid $30 (£20) for L4D by preordering it on amazon, didn't get it 'til 3 days after the steam release but for what I saved it was way way worth it, steam is shit, only the bundles are good or the really old games, or the deals they do like last weekend they had TF2 for $10 which you can't argue with.

I refuse to buy Left 4 Dead after the bullshit they did with the demo.
I downloaded the demo on it's public release date and played it for fifteen minutes in single player and planned on playing co-op the week after since I had too much to do.
But they lock the demo after a week and charge $50 for a game that is frankly worth $20 at most.

added to that is if your a uk customer you lose out even further because the pound has become so weak compared to the dollar.

a 50 dollar game that was once £20 to £25 is now £31 rounded off

£20 is pushing it a bit but yeah £25 would be right at one point when the dollar was 2:1 with the pound. Could do with America going to war again to get that exchange rate looking more healthy.

Yeah that was really shit, I've had loads of friends saying "I'd like to try it but I don't think my PC could handle it." The least they could fucking do is let you play it singleplayer... but I understand why they don't want people playing the demo, they know that the full game has pretty much the same content only with different themes.

The £ on there is awesome though, they're selling the $100 packs for £53... that = $80, by buying the packs in the UK you save $20
