Last weekend the
Dutch ESWC qualifier in Quake 3 Arena has been played. With an exciting finale from Sander "
Vo0" Kaasjager versus Lemmy "
If-22" de Groot, in which IF-22 came out as the superior player.
How ever, the ESWC was so thrilled about the final, they decided that Vo0 should also be given a chance to ESWC USA. So there for they given the second spot also a ticket for the grand finales. Even thought Vo0 has to pay up his own trip.
Ofcourse not everybody is happy with this, because Ivo '
Forever' Lindhout states on GameLux that this is just not a fair way to distribute prizes. (The news hub of WSquared). How ever Forever did not attent the event. Because he didn't know there was a second prize.
Here is a part translated, quoted and cutted from what he had to say:
"...It all started when Vo0 was given a 1st seed in Quake 3 Arena while he hasn't achieved anything in Quake 3 Arena....
... Vo0 may have preformed well in Pain Killer but that has nothing to do with Quake 3 Arena.....
.. This is all sad, if GameLux announced this 1 or 2 weeks in advance.. ...Then there was no problem...
....I find it sad that an organisation announces a second spot 5 days AFTER the event...."

Ik zal het nog een keer posten maar dan iets netter.
Het begon allemaal toen Vo0 seed 1 kreeg voor de ESWC Kwalificatie. Vo0 heeft 0,0 gepresteerd in Quake3 ten aanzien van if-22 (seed 5) die toen Quake3 helemaal hot was alles heeft gewonnen binnen Nederland en buitengewoon goed heeft gepresteerd op 's werelds grootste toernooien.
Vo0 mag dan enorm goed gepresteerd hebben in Painkiller maar dat spel heeft niets weg van Quake3.
Nu, 5 dagen na de ESWC kwalificatie komen jullie met een post waarin staat dat jullie Vo0 de 2e spot geven. Hij moet wel zelf betalen maar who cares, zo moeilijk is het niet om een sponsor te regelen.
Trieste bende allemaal, als Gamelux een nieuwspost had gemaakt 1/2 weken voor de kwalificaties waar in stond dat de nummer 2 ook naar San Jose mag gaan was er geen probleem, maar nee 5 dagen na het evenement komen jullie met de mededeling dat de nummer 2 ook mag gaan.
Al met al is het een trieste tering bende.
Gamelux heeft zichzelf weer goed op de kaart gezet en bewijst hier maar weer eens mee dat ze Vo0's zijn kont weer eens likken!
(Niets negatief over Vo0 want ik was denk ik zelf ook blij geweest als ik deze kans had gekregen).
De manier waarop is incorrect en het laat nogmaals zien hoe onprofessioneel de Nederlandse toernooi organisatoren zijn.
Weer een deuk voor de Nederlandse gaming scene.

Basically, Forever is bitching because prior to the tournament, it was known that there was only ONE spot for the finals for Quake 3. Since his birthday was close to it, and he didn't want to spend 3 hours traveling, he decided not to go. 
What Forever was doing during ESWC.
