hey guys just a small review of the sp as i see there aren't many around and thought a few people may enjoy a quick impression.

so i've been using cloth for sometime but plastic is where my heart is at.

i received a sp from a friend of mine (thanks D) who owns a pc shop near me.

first impressions are that the pad is very nicely made, it has more of a complete product feel unlike the s&s which is basically just a sheet of plastic. the design on the surface is pretty good, but i think it was really just to distinguish between the S&S as i would prefer just a totally black pad.

steel are probably afraid of ditching the s&s due to its massive popularity but the sp really does seem like its replacement. having said that it's nice the s&s is still available as it's cheaper, so people do have the option.

the glide is basically the same (hard to tell as the s&s i have here is 2-3 months old), but the 1mm rubber backing adds a really nice feel to the pad as it soaks up some down force that would normally be translated in to a touch of lateral movement i.e. a slight shake while pressing mouse1 hard in repetition is now dampened by the rubber backing, which is a great thing and gives great precision during frenetic fire fights.

the edges are nicely rounded which means that extra 1mm means nothing, and the pad feels just as flat and low as the s&s.

overall i'd say the sp is a premium s&s (as reflected in the price).

it's a fantastic pad which i've yet to properly play with (only clocked up 2 hours). i'd kind of written it off due to having too many mouse mats lying around, i'm really glad i dug it out and gave it a proper go. it's staying on my desk now
