Your crazy... They released D3 a huge title in 04. They made ET a reality and are helping SD to bring us ET:QW. They already turned down a buy offer by Activision (why Adrian Carmack is gone ;D).. Your post is way over exaggerated.

You should take a look at the big picture. Quake 4 was a failure and IF ET:QW and RAGE are as successful they'll become an easy prey for the big publishers. I understand QW is going to be huge, yet this is only one game. The question is for how long they are going to remain independed.

I am not denying id makes money. Anything makes money if it is marketed good.

Quake 4 is shit, so was Doom 3. Your marketing hype is not going to change that.

It may be shit for you and me, but not for the casual singleplayer guy who though it was amazing.

indeed, many people liked d3, including me. yet, id's titles aren't as popular as they were back in the days. blame half-life and such... even unreal.

Halo 2 singleplayer rocks the D3/Q4 singleplayer.

i'm q2/q3 player, love mostly fps mp games,
and i must say d3 sp was great (as good as hl2 sp, although they are completly different genres, sf.horror.action vs sf.adventure.action), especialy on a good graphics card and with 5.1 surround it's like a good horror movie...
q4 sp wasn't as good, and mp is getting better but it's evedent that it'll never be good as any qw/q2/q3, it's not tragic as disappointed ppl are making it.... so stop the bull

Incredibly boring. The same thing could be accomplished with a set of photos.

This just reminds of how gutted i am with id, Doom3- got bored in about an hour. Doom2-never wanted it to end!!!!

id on a downhill slump

carmac still amazing, still at the bleeding edge of engine design

the rest of id - in d3 the artists came up with spiders with upsidedown heads and the gameplay was taken straight out of the original doom with monsters appearing out of thin air in a corner behind you - not too impressed with this.

when q3 was first released i was blown away i won't ever forget that, but with their next release it might not even have a multiplayer, and with carmac saying he may not stay on much longer once the next game is finished, well i don't expect to be blown away again by id like i was with q3
