probably cause it's most likely an osp demo, not a cpma demo.

CPMA can play OSP demos just fine.

this was nothing special even for 2002, the guys he played against played pretty bad(ye i saw czm was there) and there was no wow shots or anything special except some good railing/shafting.although for so few rail shots its not hard to get a high %.

i still don't understand why someone with aim like that never went to a LAN and just up and walk away from gaming on a whim. Don't you think that if you spent time getting that good then you couldn't just stop one day cold fucking turkey. The only way I can see someone just leaving in that manner is If you had no real stake in the game (since without the cheats you were pathetic). Then you could easily walk away anyday after realizing how it was all just a waste of time.

I've watched some too. I have never carefully watched them looking for any signs of cheating though. I just watch for the entertainment derived purely from his accuracy.

Practically all the early qw/q2 greats have walked about from competitive gaming and with their talents they could easily still play here and there and pick up some cash at events or win some online titles but they don't. Maybe practicing to get THAT good is what makes you sick of it after a certain amount of time. Too much of a good thing and all that...

Well he was also mainly a tdm player, I don't think he had much interest in 1v1, and there were never that many tdm competitions.

This was around 2002, where quake was actually fading out of its prime already, and just because you can aim really well and play tdm didn't make you a great 1v1 player, of course he probably could of practised 1v1 and gotten good, but who knows what happened in his life. I sure as hell know how it can be to completely disappear from the quake scene. (I didn't have a pc for 2 years while I was travelling)

there were even less 1v1 tourneys (CPL had dropped q3, banned km, causing km invite), and at the time the whole scene here was into tdm, and that's what the whole scene including the top duelers essentially played and practiced at in that period.

I'm sure the only reason Cloud even mentioned that ck members were playing is in an attempt to avoid random people from discrediting any perceived skill by saying it was against newbies. has a clan I've ever been in ever beaten ck in a match while I was a member? no. not an official match anyway, just some scrims here and there.

good example here of why I quit gaming. to think I actually played q4 for 2 days and was considering coming back. I guess I was cheating in that too when I kept getting over 60% rails on my 2nd day even though Ive havent gamed more than solitaire in 3.5 years. (Personally, I think I suck and q4 is just the easiest game to be released... ever.)

I did major the demo, and I still think the demo should be majored, though not because of the content itself(though, this whole thread is pretty funny.)

With GGL and CB both done for now, the amount of demos being uploaded to ESR aren't at that fast a pace. so, i think all/most demos should be majored so they appear on the front page and people can download them instead of just having fooki vs ahzaz which is like 3 weeks old..

major demos are tournament demos, why you major a very old PUB demo I don't know, doesn't deserve to be majored

major demos are those that the users of the site would like to see and appreciate.

but don't hate on czm. as much praise as he already gets, I'll give him some more. he's smacked me around plenty of times himself and I became a better player playing against him. ex) the way I dodged was not just a result of being an hpb before i got a low ping. I didnt really start counter-dodging on offense until I had to figure out how to aim against czm the way I could aim at everyone else, and then my aim, which was already up there, just went through the roof.

Like I said, if I wanted my demos up here, they would've been long ago. I recorded every single game I played.

These demos were given to FRIENDS years ago. Think about it... I last played q3 in august of 2002. We're talking 3.5 years ago. They can do whatever the want with them.

why not upload all the good demos then? not just for you, but of many of the old tdm/etc games that are lost

Because unfortunately I do not have any of them anymore. There were probably two dozen or so demos given out in my 18 or so months playing hpb + lpb q3. Maybe a 15 or so as an lpb. so they are floating around out there somewhere. I think cloud and acclaim have a couple more that havent been uploaded anywhere, but im pretty sure they dont have every one i ever gave out anymore.

and about playing q4... #1) I don't have the computer to play the game. I was somehow getting 40-60 fps with my xp 2100 and gf4 4600 until the video card literally stopped working after 2 days. im on my old q3 geforce 2 now. #2) I really don't care about gaming anymore. #3) I'm going to law school and working part-time and technically I, myself, am a semi-broke student and a couple grand would be nice. But the wife makes a boatload of money working in the financial district, and in a couple years, money won't matter for either of us for the rest of our lives. So, let someone else who thinks gaming will be his career focus on winning some cash. #4) The reward is simply not worth the effort.

I got an IM from Cloud saying he uploaded a demo I gave to him 3 1/2 years ago and I checked it out and intended to respond to one person who was obviously neglected as a child. If I wanted anything more from gaming other than temporarily putting out some internal competitive fires, I would've gone to lans and won my fair share.

I swear, since I started gaming with q3, the mere mention of my name turns almost everyone into sniffling, defensive little babies, who despite not playing on my level were hellbent on proving why I wasn't as good as I appeared. Does that cancel our the fact that I wiped the floor at one point or another with everyone Ive ever played against? How does that prove a pickup demo like this one isn't impressive? Stop hating. Look at all the contracts the Euros have. why do you think all the top NA players no longer play? now you got people like cl0ck at the top because all the americans jumped ship; theres no 'pro'-gaming scene in America. technically a 'has been' as defined is someone who was 'glorious' in the past, and is STILL at it, but can't 'cut it' anymore. Typically used in show-biz-- LOL @ thinking anything in this scene could be put on similar levels.

Kash was a great player when he did play, personally i wish he would have stayed longer but i understand why he would leave, xil-tiger and shonuff did the same and both players were really talented. And the matches i did see of him when he did play were excellent to bad he didnt play for cK. That would have been something special.

Wow this cloud guy is really defensive about Kash (sisters?). The demo was really unimpressive. Sure it was 2002, but movement was just so much better than this back then, and I didn't really find the aim all that impressive There was only maybe 1 or 2 decent rails in this whole demo (ie hitting opponent who is trying to hit him at the same time) - mg and lg aim...well pffft, run of the mill stuff, even for an obvious hit scan only player. There were so many good online players back in the day, many of them never making it to lans, why should anyone really care about this guy? Since when has online performance actually meant anything? Maybe cloud is like his online bosom buddy and had a chance to be a groupy if kash could play on lan. But he obviously wasn't good enough, which leaves cloud one very unhappy groupy wannabe.

Just a general comment since most of these posts are by euro players or anons who only watch demos. Both of which are clueless about the North American scene in 2002.

Kash was not just some random dm6 pickup god who couldn't handle the real competition. Kash was the league MVP of the top online TDM league in North America. In North America, we don't have LAN TDM competitions. Our players are way too spread out to organize something like that without Quakecon/CPL type prizes. So how is Kash not validated because of lan attendance when he basically had the same problem as every other TDM player in North America?

Since Quake1, there have been top players who have chosen to focus their energies on TDM and not play 1on1. It seems to be the opinion of esreality posters that not playing 1on1 means you suck at it or are "All aim no brains". I've seen posters use that quote about Toxic as well and this is simply ridiculous. TDM has its own brand of skill which takes just as much mindpower as 1on1. Not to mention lots of gamers prefer the camaraderie of TDM to the monotony of 1on1.

I can assure you all that when Kash did play 1on1 he was plenty good and a very crafty player. He had to be, he was on a 56k modem. That did not stop him from beating good lpbs around the country. As a former HPB myself, I can assure you dealing with a 56k modem in quake3 is 5x more difficult than it was in quake1 or quake2.

For the record, the North American quake3 scene basically had all the top players playing from 2001-2003. You could even argue that a good amount of the top players left after 2001. Clock may have been a very good if not the best CTF in quake3 history. Noone really cares though because the top players didn't play CTF and CTF was hardly the platform to judge skill anyway. By the time Clock started getting some high finishes in Quake3, the whole scene had pretty much vanished and he got to play against the same 4 or 5 other good players every day (Not far off from the state of Quake4 in North America).

Sure Clock has been to plenty of LANs, but isn't it kind of easy when gaming is your job and you have nothing else to interfere? Why is it worth Kash's time to go to LANs when he has a full time job to pay his bills and all the LANs are 1on1 anyway, a game mode he isn't fond of to begin with? It gets a little more complicated when you're the actual player rather than the poster who watches demos of all the top players.

When clock played quake3 around 2002, he wasn't known as a respectable player, he was known as a cheater. It's really clear as day to anyone who watched the demo, simply timescale to slow mo and observe his stationary crosshair on the midsection of the enemy. When someone cheats in gaming, they throw their integrity out the window. Clock may have regained his credibility in quake4, but he showed his true character when he cheated back in 2002.

k well i read the thread while dl'ing the demo, and dl'ed the czm qcon2k2 demo and have to say that kash's aim doesn't come close to czm's. frankly, i got bored watching the kash demo after about 10 minutes. i don't know how anyone can even put you in the same league as the top players on terms of aim. saying that the pros have "caught up" in the past 3.5 years isn't just cocky, it's arrogant and downright wrong. Even when you were good, your aim wasn't near the best. Although I do admit you seem to be pretty prescient.

Is that the same Cloud that I briefly knew from RA3? Heh.. I just wanted to point out that there are highly skilled players out there that have never participated in tournaments/major lans. Some of them have disappeared and some have not. Hopefully I can get into things when I come back home from this war on terror stuff.. I have a good friend who simply has no internet connection but is also very good. Maybe someday he will get into tournaments but who knows, age and life catches up eventually.. Sup to spook/thomas if they ever read this. :)

It reminds me of those online pickup demos that went around of that euro guy Giant back in the day. He had incredible aim and tricks, and he was accused of cheating on many occassions. But unlike Kash, Giant was confident enough to enter REAL competitions (ie non net) - but when he did lan, those 100+ HPBs he was "owning/out aiming" on the net took him to the cleaners.

Excuse me? Nothing to back it up? Again, I DIDNT UPLOAD THIS DEMO. I've only ever uploaded one demo of myself and that was for a few people who asked for more. Besides, these are the only demos remaining after all the years since I stopped playing. There were more. Plenty of people have seen them. Even more have actually played against me and don't need to see demos to know how I played. I only out aimed noobs with 100+ pings? I out aimed everybody with any ping, and like I said before, unless you are czm or boodah, stfu because they were about the only 2 people who I played against could aim like me with similar pings, nevermind everything else in their games that made them worthy competition.

And since KIT 1 didnt record weapons stats, I'll just have to post stuff from KIT 2...

I was arguably the best hpb (tdm and 1v1) when I was stuck on a 56k modem. I was arguably the most skilled player when I was a lpb as well. I won mvps, was an all-star even if I was in a slump and got recruited by the best clans in north american history. giant beat up on people in FFAs. nice comparison.

As far as why I'm here and able to comment despite saying that I quit gaming... I left the scene for about 3 years. Then mahmood wrote some article about me on ggl and a q1 friend of mine pasted the url in AIM, and then a couple months later I found one of my oldest friends (D|S-Acclaim) and he got me to try q4 for 2 days, and then I went away for a couple weeks and Cloud IM'd me the url for this demo page. Stop assuming things. It makes you look foolish.

I think kash was mad good... there are lots of sick internet players that could never make it to major LAN's for the right reasons (ie: not wanting to go because you didnt want to lose, which is perfectly normal, or money issues, w/e... just to name a few... hmm, deke (aka SITdrag0n) this guy was a ra3 player, basically the best rail anyones ever seen, beating people like socrates, cha0ticz myself and random other top players consistantly the few times he played 1v1... basically never lost, another player that comes to mind is probably "bane" anyone who has even remotely followed the CTF community in the past 5 years knows all about him, probably the "shadiest" person in most peoples eyes, he convinced many he was a girl for 2 years, some thought he was gay, he never came on voice, to this day no one knows if he is a girl or a guy, age, or anything really, but arguably the best CTF player anyones ever seen.. then theres kash who i really didnt care to follow given how much he obviously doesnt like me for whatever reason... but ya, kash was good.

I don't understand why people make such a big deal about above average/top players "coming back" (this isnt directed towards anyone). The truth is, the competitive community, on top of really not caring, just doesn't notice. It is only the people that take a more spectator aspect to gaming, or the below average players, that create hype, and really care/excited the most. If CZM were to start playing Q4 again, the only thing any of the top 10 US 1v1 players will be thinking is either "great, someone else to play against now, finally" or "another person to lose to". There is no one thinking "oh pauls aim was so good in Q3, I can't wait till he returns to Q4 omg" and only a few thinking "wow, he fell off the face of the planet right after Q3/ESWC 05', doesn't even come on AIM or return anyones phone calls. Fact of the matter is that the vast majority of competitive players just dont care that much when people "come back" or "retire". It is only on these sites, with these people, fans and below average players that REALLY make a big deal about a devastating pickup game for kash being posted on ESR. What we really have here is a thread with 50 comments that has nothing to do with gaming or Q3 or Q4, 100 comments by about 20 people regarding kash, 50 comments with my name in them and another random 30 about different players or closely relating to the main topic of this thread. It's really interesting if you break down these mass-comment threads. Again this wasn't directed towards anyone just in general.
