I don't know why you would want to learn swedish overnight, you could learn it in 6 months if you live there. Try learning Japanese in 6 months.

You can learn any language you wish if you go to the country and immerse youself. This is assuming one wants to learn. I believe I could have a decent working knowledge of Japanese by living there for 6 months. It is very easy to pronounce but has difficult grammar and a large vocab.

I think Mandarin Chinese is a shrewd language to learn, for social and economic reasons. This is the language I'm currently learning (although i've slacked off a bit lately :-/)and I get all the help I want. ;-)

But if I wake tomorrow and can speak a new language fluently, I'd have to go along with all the other nerds here and say Japanese. I love the sound plus I'd have a parade of slobbering geeks in awe of me b/c I have the ability to communicate with J-chicks. haha ;-)

I'd hope so or we'd never learn any new languages! My point was - It's a hell of a lot easier to learn a language like your own than to learn one very different.
