Anyone running an i5 or i7 core on an 1156 or 1366 socket motherboard might want to check their USB polling rates.

Intel's USB Controller in the P55 and X58 chipsets is dodgy, it cannot provide a stable report rate.

I run a CRT and an old mouse (mx300) and I immediately noticed the horrible mouse movement after I installed Windows XP on my new system so I loaded up mouserate checker and was surprised to find the USB port clipping 66Hz to 1080Hz alternating each count

Overclocking to 500Hz or plugging in my deathadder made no difference as the 500Hz and 1000Hz polling are just as unstable.

After a post on OCAU forums I was informed of the P55 USB problem

I have asked clanmates and friends running P55 or X58 to test their USB polling rates with mouserate.exe and they were all suffering the same clipping issues

my motherboard has an NEC USB3 controller, and plugging my mouse into that provides a stable report rate, but I cannot overclock the USB port with usbmrs =[
