Ever heard about RME Audio Interfaces? They had seperate audio processors on it, unfortunately without a brutal looking 10kg CU cooler on it. :-(
But with todays CPU power 100% worthless.

They already have these; they are known and Graphic Cards or GPUs.

Any modern gpu has a sound card built in, and when idling would consume about that much power, have that much processing power, and have around 3 gigs of RAM.

Stupid? Yes. Real thing and currently available? Yes. Could someone use it as a soundcard alone if they were filthy rich and stupid enough? Yes.

I know all about them. I spent a few months studying audio because I find it fascinating how they strive for perfection in arenas where money is almost no object.

It would be interesting also to see some developments to the H2+ piezo-electric type headphone, the impression I get is that they have a completely unique sound experience, but the implementation in the H2+ is inconvenient (they plug in with speaker wires) and the sound is not on par with other high end headphones.

There is some bent appeal to playing QL with a stax-009, knowing what an obscene waste QL's sound system would be on it :-P
