anyone think that having a timer downgraded quake 3 for more dumber players?

yes all the dumb ppl who can't add 2 numbers think that (don't worry u r not alone, there others as dumb as u)

we use .wav Timers in Quake 2,they are used since ages,they are allowed in Leagues/tournaments but they are banned in the American servers.

to use the timers,you have to download a .wav file and put it in your pak ( or your q2 folder ) and bind a key for it,for exemple if the file name is weapon30.wav,you type in your cfg or in console: bind <key> play weapon30.

timers are considered cheating in other quake games tho.

Q2 players sound a bit lazy.

Americans... so smart and intelligent, who would need any help timing items there, for example look at rapha...

timers were banned in USA like a year ago or smth,not that long :P

In quake1 if you hit the showscores key (tab by default), a small timer was shown in the top left.

Since the game was originally played with deathmatch 1 (weapons respawn) settings, timing was very important.

Still though a lot of players timed by feel or by routine.

why not just a timer to a HUD instead of using a .wav file? :S

using a timer was considered cheating back then
