at the moment its just an array index from the list of 30 matches that im loading.

i'll change it to time/date soon but the chart went a bit nuts when i tried it so i left it while i did the larger scale features.

thats really awesome, how did you code it?

first it retrieves the recent matches page from the players profile and scans the html to get all the match ids. Then it grabs the match data in json format, pick its apart and stores it in the db.

because thats quite slow its all done with a queue system, one for players and one for matches.

so before i open it up i need to setup a cron job to poke the queue updaters. at the moment they're driven semi-manually.

one limitation is that it'll only go back 4 weeks because thats all the ql match history shows.

Can you make the .json files public, so that we can access the page-converted in order to make our own statistics?

I believe, if ID would have had such a database as Epic started for UT2004, QL would be even more interesting. Nowadays the masterserver, gathering the statistics is maintained private.

Unfortunately these kind of match information are not gathered at all for QuakeLive, so no processing for further statistical analysis is possible :(

They ARE gathered.

Not all of it is kept in the database and then not all of it is presented on the page. But they have a system in place that can record every action on the server.

i wrote .NET parser for QuakeLive clans, players, maps. It's in working draft mode and it can strip information from txt streams or directly from web.

I extracted info for about 7000 clans, but then there were 170,000 more to go, so i kinda faded in interest.

If interested, i can share.

Yeah, well I´d like to have the Quake Live data as sample base for applied statistic methods maybe, although I don´t have a clue how to get to process the data finally with some of the available (academic) statistic tools. But the first step, would be to have that data ^^, the rest comes afterwards imo!

one small thing to note, on the competitors chart, quits are shown as a loss. i'll fix that soon.

although chaoticz doesnt have that many quits so it wouldnt make a huge amount of difference :)

he is severely out of practice.

also this tool is just superb.

-After clicking a duelers name, you can't see how many games he has played anymore

I'd love to see:

- detailed map stats for each player in accordance to who they win\lose the map against

- a search function for the players page

- average frag difference and damage dealt difference in the map stats, perhaps both in numbers and percentiles

nice, in the weapon acc charts you should imho do smth to prevent the line from dropping to 0 for maps that dont have the gun tho, at least it looks like thats whats happening :)

1) Why show accuracy of spam weapons? Rail, lg (although sometimes spammed in duel, is not done so excessively as rockets) and mg is all that can show somewhat objectively how well a player aims.
1.a) The other problem with accuracy is that every opponent dodges with varying degrees of success.

2) Weapon kill chart is terrible, make it a pie chart instead.
2.a) What are the numbers from 0 to 28? Days? Why not show something more meaningful, like a map or a player name?

3) Reverse of weapon kill chart should be done too to see which weapons prove most fatal/effective against a player on each map and if there are any clear tendencies for certain weapons to outperform others (or even themselves, e.g. "plasma is surprisingly deadly in vertical vengeance") on certain maps.

4) Why not make an attempt to derive from available data a reason(s) why one dueller beats the other (it doesn't have to be 100% correct)? For example you could show one of the two obvious factors (whichever is true) that probably decided the winner (of course it's never really so simple, at least I hope so, but it's a good start...I think): either it was greater damage output or stronger map control (more armors and health collected). So not only would there be a boring 60/40 green/red column, but we would get an overview of what was total domination, what was won by pure damage and what was achieved thanks to map control.

5) Very serious problem is that a lot of duels are played for practice only and these very often aren't about winning.

4. It would be good, but the match data from the quakelive server doesn't have information about collected items in any form. But this does lead on to another idea i'd like to do at some point (or hope someone else will) which is getting stats from demo analysis.

In fact, although i'd had the idea for this tool for a while, it was seeing a Starcraft 2 site which finally made me get off my arse and start coding. http://www.sc2buddy.net does exactly that, you upload your demos and it analyses them for you.

I'd never heard of sc2gears until onlyDM6forever mentioned it, but i'll be checking that out as well.

I just noticed that QLDT can generate XML output from demo files, and can be run from the command line.

Competitor / Map stats for a player now show win ratio on the graph.
Competitor columns click through into a player vs player section. At the moment that section only shows win/loss/quits/win ratio by map.

it'll just say OK if the account was added to the queue. then it should get processed after some time (minimum 5 minutes, but depends if others are already in the queue etc..)

but it wont be automatically re-processed. that'll come soon.

the front page now has an 'add player' box. it does check if the QL profile exists before adding to the system.

I also added a pie chart for total weapon kills when you click a bar for either a player vs player map item or a player on map opponent item. i.e. click the bars on the graphs. see if something happens. :)

the player accuracy page now shows daily average accuracy for the '4 major weapons' : LG, Rocket, Rail and Plasma.

Update: it was broken (it only worked by luck rather than design) but its now fixed. :)

I think that what I want in acc list doesn't matter, but in my opinion plasma should not be there because of how much its effectiveness depends on low ping.

IMHO it's better to make opponents bars the same height, because the real important information here is not graph of games played vs opponent, but win/loss/quit distribution. Right now it's almost impossible to compare those stats between different players, because bars are changing height and the rightmost ones are usually very squished vertically and unreadable. It will also make the "Win ratio" line (btw, line? _Connected_ from one player to another, not individual points?! wtf? Players/maps is not a continuous parameter, there is no sense to connect the points) unnecessary. If you want to also reflect number of games played vs an opponent, you can, for example, make the bars horizontally fatter or thinner depending on that, or just writing number of games under them is sufficient enough.
Same goes for maps statistics.

I think for the win/loss/quits graphs im not sure about making them the same height, at the moment the data is only for four weeks so for the competitors chart the rightmost players are only going to have a few games, which means there'll be a high erm, whatever they call it in statistics, error, deviation. something like that.

i'll see if the chart library has the options for controlling the width of the bars. they did have the numeric labels on them before but they were rendering in a weird position and it made it look really messy so i took them off.
maybe there's a new version of the chart library with bug fixes.

i'll remove the line connecting the win ratio points and make the points bigger.

its like 2-3 days since I was on the site, i didnt know it was updated, anway, I rest my case, great site.

How often the stats will be updated ?

ok, there is no simple answer, so here's the details :)

at the moment there are 2 'update schedules'. Every 5 minutes the player queue is checked and if any are on the queue it'll retrieve one weeks worth of games from that player at the head of the queue and add that to the matches queue.

For matches, it checks every minute and will process 8 matches at a time.

Im going to change all this soon anyway. The plan is to allow people to register an account with their QL profile name, and registered accounts will all update automatically (how often will depend on the number of accounts that are registered).

Also that will give me a set of accounts to use for trying out ranking systems (im looking at glicko 2 right now, hopefully have something usable by the end of the week)

BTW, if you have added your profile to the queue and you want to speed the queue along, just keep hitting this url :

then the matches will get processed in due course, or if i see the match queue getting quite long I'll manually get it to process the entire match queue as fast as possible.

updated the 'all duels' page.
added a mini pie chart to show rough idea of kills (only rl, lg, rg, pg and sg).
results are now separated by day and paged (although a day might get split across pages, i'll fix that soon)

I think weapons stats good, but not so important. In StarCraft 2 players has elo rating and can search opponents. Weapon % mean practically nothing, because if play different skill players - middle and newbie, middle receive more % accuracy, then in match against middle. Very easy to shoot at the beginner. And if middle vs pro, middle receive less %. Player accuracy depends on enemy skill moving and quake is a game where you may not pickup weapons because enemy control map and does not allow you to take some weapons when you try.

right. as i mentioned earlier i had started working on adding a ranking system, but not got it finished. it would definitely be interesting to see the game results and stats in the context of rank between players.

all ideas and suggestions are considered.

Сan you tell about you rank algorithm in steps and formula's? How it must works in you vision. What players must do? Then we can give you a small response.

btw, elo rating is thing that will make quake sport more professional.

are you making ca stats? or just overall daily weapon accuracy progression would be perfect

at the moment its only gathering stats for duel, although i've tried to leave enough flexibility in the code to account for most game types.

I might add them next week, although i'll probably add tdm / ctf data before any other game type because thats what I prefer to play :)

You don't gather enough statistics imo, missing yesterday's JS cup and alot of other JS cups aswell. For example I have beaten Amai more than he has beaten me, but your site shows only matches he won. Makes me sad. ;__;

could be a couple of things

1. Bugs. There are definitely bugs so some games might not be processed, others might show up twice (i've definitely seen the 2nd one)

2. Processing queue. Recent matches might still not have been processed yet. To get your matches processed quicker you can re-add yourself to the queue by putting your profile name in on the front page's add player box.

i've not done anything with it for about a week, too much real work to do right now, but next week i'll dedicate a few days to it.
